In the most famous speech of our 1st Prime Minister Late Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the “Freedom At Midnight”, he quoted :
“ Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially.
At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.” – unquote. Good Morning to one and all gathered here!
As a proud Indian, it gives me great sense of feeling to re-iterate these words of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru! From the phase of being a Golden bird to that of being under colonial rule which exploited her to the worst and yet again building herself back to the days of glory, India has witnessed inumerous Histories. From time immemorial, India has always been the eye attraction for all. From the Aryans & Dravidians to the Persian Invaders, from the Mughals to the Britishers, everyone had their own story in shaping India for their dreams. As we prepare to enjoy 64th year of Independence we owe a lot to those silent souls whose tears, sweat, and blood made us today again to stand in the realms of glory.
Since Independence, India has planned well and implemented effective programmes that led to a major development of the country at a fast pace. The Governments which came in power after Independence continued to focus on development at all levels, starting from development of villages and then coming to cities with prime focus to develop better healthcare services in the country, providing better education to the masses, eradicating several fatal diseases, promoting the service industry and increasing the quality of life. We again must never forget great men of their times like “M.S. Swaminathan – father of Green Revolution”, “Dr.Verghese Kurian – father of White Revolution” and even great visionaries like our Ex-Prime Minister Late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi who brought forth the Sanchar Kranti in the country. It was because of the New Economic Reforms of 1991, brought up by the then Finance Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, which revolutionized the industrial sector by paving the ways for Liberalization, Privatization & Globalization which finally led us to this day of ultimate progress and development, taking India to rank among the best in the world.
The Term Paper on Gordon Brown Is Not An Able British Prime Minister
The British history has been famous for its efficient governance, and developmental policies of the government. Both the Conservative and the Labour Parties have contributed to the economic prosperity of the country through enlightening vision, strategic planning, and effective implementation of its policies. During the past centuries, Great Britain has provided one of the best healthcare systems ...
Now after attaining all these landmarks, still the question floats: “WHAT INDIA NEEDS TODAY??” which surely drives itself for a debate.
Today India has many opportunities along with many hindrances to overcome. With an ever increasing population and with limited resources India has always been struggling to fulfill the basic needs of “ROTI, KAPDA AUR MAKAN.”
Even after attaining a tremendous growth of GDP, still somewhere in some street we may find a child sleeping in hunger.
Even with the strictest judicial laws, still somewhere a criminal roams free.
Even with big social reforms and policies, still in some remote corner a woman dies in the name of dowry, a girl is pushed into prostitution, an unemployed is dragged to find some anti social ways to find his livelihood. All these instances may sound touching but still it remains a question: WHERE ARE WE HEADING TO? From time to time, the needs change and the means change! We must find ways to co-ordinate our resources in order to channelize it for the welfare of the so called, AAM AADMI. In my view, India today needs “VISION” – A vision which may inspire the 1.21 billion populations to join hands to attain what may be termed as Peace, Progress & Prosperity.
The needs of today’s India are varied. Certain retrospection could be made to study and achieve our goal for ultimate development and perfection, which we may categorize as:

1) Development staging from the basic roots of the society for which it is time that we need to focus more on empowering our villages to convert them into developing cities. 2) Formulating better and strict Social policies to value and secure the lives of every citizen. 3) Strengthening our Defense base to a greater extent to secure the country against external threats like: terrorism and other forms of infiltration.
4) Planning to improve the economic infrastructure of the country by providing support to the small scale industries, self help groups and other industrial organization. 5) Promote Research and development in various fields of Medicine, Agriculture and for new avenues like Bio-Fuel generation.

The list may lie endless but as quoted by Swami Vivekananda: “It is our own mental attitude which makes the world what it is for us, and we are what our thoughts made us”. With the view that India continues to climb the towers of excellence, it always was, is and will stay the Mighty one in all ages to come! At last I conclude, borrowing those beautiful words of Robert Frost : “ The woods are lovely dark and deep. But I have promises to keep.. and miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep…””
