WHO IS HAPPY???
To begin with, I would like to throw light on why did I opt for this topic over other loud, appealing and boring issues which catches the eye of every indian in today’s life like terrorism, corruption and many more. The only reason behind this choice of mine was the fact that this topic is the most important and neglected one in this modern lifestyle. Now coming to the point : WHO IS HAPPY?? Is it BILL GATES or the AMBANI’S who have all the wealth of the world or is it SACHIN TENDULKAR who holds all the records of the world or is it a COMMON MAN in india who earns his livelihood and simultaneously saves for his future? Ofcourse, it is tough to answer atleast for me, an engineering student who is always busy in memorising those useless and impractical equations of maths and physics and somehow tries to seek the rarest of the rare happiness in those formulaes. So, dont expect me to give you a trustworthy answer because I am myself not sure whether I would be able to answer this question by the end of this article. The correct answer to the question lies in the fact that how do you define happiness. For some it is money, infact a lot of money, some find happiness in praise, while some wants to remain unnoticed, some wants adventures in their life to be happy, while other go for safe and secured life to be happy…. so I would say happiness is not a definable emotion. So again, the same question arises WHO IS HAPPY?
As it may be clear to some that the answer to the question may vary from person to person. Although I am writing this article as an ESSAY but I have no restriction to put forward my own views. So WHO IS HAPPY according to me?? what is happiness according to me?? I wont say that one who is satisfied is happy because again SATISFACTION is a consolatory and obvious answer because I, in my small life span have never come to know what satisfaction actually is. May be because I have choosen the wrong career! Or may be I have never tried my best in what I do! But I could never experience the so called SATISFATION. Once I asked this my loving, caring, and money minded ( by no means I want to hurt his emotion) father this innocent question WHO IS HAPPY??. He replied me (ofcourse in hindi) “son you have no responsibilities, so you wont understand the importance of money, there is nothing without money in today’s world not even happiness”. Was this the answer I was looking for “ money is happiness”?? ofcourse not..the answer could not be so small or simple.. so what?? my doubt was still there but one thing was clear money means a lot, infact more than a lot in today’s world.

To tell about myself I am a so called studious child or I would say I was made studious by my father (my best friend).
I prepared for what we indians call as the toughest entrance exam IIT JEE, all hopes, all eyes (be it my well wisher or my critics) were on me. It was really a tough challenge and I failed. Really disappointed?? or was I ?? infact to be frank I was not disappointed at all (ofcourse I acted as one) because nobody except me knew that I had not given my best. What next?? dropped one year. Again started my vigorous training and came out with positive result. Was I happy?? ofcourse my parents and all my well wishers were… but I was not.. because I expected much better rank. Through this experience I came to know failing to achieve may bring happiness but achievement may fail to bring happiness.
Got into the college, with the same question WHO IS HAPPY?? or AM I HAPPY?? but always trying to be happy. Then in college I found a course being conducted about happiness, internal satisfaction and all. I thought as if I got the answer to my most ambiguous question. Went for the course paid rs. 3000. always have this thing in back of my mind whether the sum I have paid would give me result ( 3000 means a lot for a middle class for something outside study).

Ofcourse the feeling of 3000 was bringing unrest in me if not happiness. Did I find my answer in the course? 3000 went invain. Got the traditional answers like SATISFATION and giving 100 percent and bla bla bla. Got to know one thing from the course that it is myself who will have to figure out the answer to WHO IS HAPPY??
I still do not know AM I HAPPY?? or WHAT WILL MAKE ME HAPPY?? Is it a high salary or success or the so called SATISFACTION (if I could experience at some point of time).
I thought of writing this article as an ESSAY but it has more of become my experience. So I wont go any further although I had loads of points in my mind when I started it. As per my wisdom I can just say that being happy in one’s life is the ultimate achievement either you get it by earning money or by qualifying exams or learning formulaes or whatever it may be. At last I would say that my fear of failing to answer WHO IS HAPPY?? has come true.
The question still remains unanswered : “WHO IS HAPPY”??
