After I graduated from the university, I joined the working professionals of which I hardly waited to see the fruits of my four-year bachelor degree. I was in this field more than fourteen years. I obtained enough work experience, and I set several goals which I though I will obtain in ten years. From the outset of my goal planning, I put higher degree my first priority, but it failed to come practical with a number of reasons: First, I was living in a country that had no higher institution that provides MBA or MSc. The only possible opportunity at the time was lobbying for outside scholarship on which was entirely based nepotism and corruption. Second, my family had an influence in my life in term of decision-making. This had resulted my first marriage, which became another important part of my goal. I became a father with huge responsibilities. Nevertheless, I was able to continue my commitment to obtain a higher degree.

During my twelve years in management field, I obtained ample professional experience. My maturity developed and I became a man of will and strong vision. It has always been my craving to obtain well-awarded degree. Although I agree with many people who pursue a master degree in order to obtain a prosperity and recognition in this world, mine was beyond that. I have had enough recognition and have worked for organization that had five hundred staff. I have shown a credible leadership in that organization. During my leadership in that organization, I obtained several credentials of which encouraged me to pursue this MBA program. I used to ask myself “Will I earn more with a graduate qualification?” The answer is not a definite “yes”, because it must be admitted that after years in employment remuneration tends to be based on experience and achievement on the job.
However, the answer is also not a definite “no” – graduate qualifications do open up new career possibilities and make possible faster advancement. With this in mind, I decided to change my field from humanitarian work to business and high-tech industry, which is very challenging and a competitive field. The shift of field will require skills that are more professional, for instance, business communication, decision-making, marketing strategy and specialization. One main reason of obtaining master degree is to upgrade my current skills and experience through academic research and work with people that have ample experience and skills.
Although self-motivation is extremely important, seeking the guidance and the critique of others is essential especially when it comes from your family and your friends. I have consulted with my family and friends. They encouraged and gave me their words to support me through the program. Holding a graduate degree says a great deal about you. Graduate courses are taught to small, select groups who are capable of learning at a fast rate. The graduate courses impart a level of technical understanding that is hard to achieve once in full-time employment. Most subjects involve practical work that improves skills and builds additional techniques. Moreover, students learn to work and study by themselves.
