Why Religion is Difficult to Discuss With so many different belief systems in our world, it s no wonder why religion is such a touchy subject in our society. It is not to be discussed in schools or any other non-church related activity because some one there might be offended. I personally don t care if you talk about religion to someone just as long as if they believe some thing different than you, don t tell him or her that they are wrong. It is a personal choice on which belief system you choose or if you choose one at all.
There is no wrong religion nor is there a totally right one either, I don t think. Everyone has his or her views on this issue but I m going to express mine. I don t actively participate or even belong to a religion. This doesn t mean that I don t believe that there is a God; I just don t thoroughly agree with any one religion. I don t interfere with other s beliefs and in return I expect them to do the same to me.
If everyone thought like this then I believe that religion wouldn t be the taboo subject it is in today s society. Religion has been banned from the classroom for no good reason. The main reason that it isn t talked about in public schools is for fear that a student might change his or her mind about their religion or that some one there might be offended by a member of a different religion. I think that this would be the best place to start in order to change the religious outlook of society.
If the students were allowed to discuss religion between one another with out the fear of being made fun of, then that would spread to the rest of the community and so on. After awhile religion could be talked about without worry of offending someone or becoming the butt of some joke. That could only happen in a perfect world I m afraid though because there will always be someone who is offended by another religion. People act as though religion is a disease and so they should not confront it because if they do then they might catch it. It is nothing to be feared and no harm is going to come to you if you talk about it outside of your church or family.
The Essay on Grace Don Talk Bad
I need to talk to someone. dad left... he left a fax... i can't believe this... he gave me money this morning. i knew something was wrong. i had a feeling he'd leave. i just knew it, in my head you know. sixth sense or something. I'm so... sad i guess. I feel like it's my fault. We were so low to him. maybe i feel worse about this thing because i kind of know how he feels i heard them fighting. i ...
As long as you remain open and not hostile when listening / talking to someone of a different religion they might just follow your lead and you can enjoy a peaceful and educational conversation. You might be amazed at what you can learn from speaking with a person from another religion. It might make you think twice about what you have believed your entire life and that can be scary but change can be good too. Open your ears and head; you might be surprised in what you learn.
If everyone tried a little harder to be open minded this subject wouldn t be so controversial and that would make our society better. Religious prosecution is what started this country. The early settlers were the people who were run out of their home countries because they believed differently than the whole. They came to the New World to escape the prosecution and now their ancestors are scared to talk religion. Let s not run out Americans that believe differently than the majority cause they have rights in this country to the freedom of speech and religion. Don t forget that it s the outcasts like them that started this great country..
