The Fire On The Snow Why Was It Such A Success As A Radio Play? The fire on the snow set in the depths of Antarctica where five men were to defeat history in a race to the pole. This radio play is one of the finest radio plays ever made in Australia and has the history written down everywhere in it. The play was about carving the way into to history by exploring Antarctica like men explored the sea in the 18 th century. I believe that this radio play had such success due to the fact that five men risked not only fingers and feet to frost bite but death, Knowing that death was just in front of them if they didn’t fight it. The death was the cold. It was everywhere, Death was everywhere no matter how the saw it.
I believe it wasn’t just the race but pure ambition of the men for there own success and to explore the ice cold iceshelfs that others may endure in many years to come. These first explorers have carved the path to the poles and made many mistakes along the way. By making these mistakes they have taught others not to follow in those foot steps but to make those foot steps bigger and not making the same mistake twice. People saw that and the men were other peoples mentors. As a radio play it was so real to be seeing what the men had gone through, I think that the biggest success in the play is that people could see exactly what the men had gone through in there fight for victory. Everyone wanted to see what they went through themselves without actually living it themselves.
The Essay on Hamlet A Play Of Death
Death is an integral part of life and is present in most literature, including Hamlet. William Shakespeare s, Hamlet takes death to the extreme, the reader is always kept thinking about death. This is illustrated through the ghost of former King Hamlet, the premature demise of Ophelia, and the mass death at the end of the play. There are elements of death everywhere throughout the play and the ...
Person after person bought the play and understood what they went through. These five men ARE famous. It is so much more easier now-a-days to a trip like this it is a simple matter of booking a ticket with a company that does charter flights and paying for it and enjoying the ride. Though not everyone that wants to experience Antarctica that way. Many people have still fought frost bite and blizzards and cold hard weather to get to the pole. But people get to the pole with much more ease.
Technology gets them there but technology is only there because it is fixing the mistakes of the past. One thing would be is clothing, The clothing mostly needed on your lower halves is duffle socks (matted wool inserts that fit in boots to warm their feet), oversized ski boots, a few layers of long johns, wind pants and “gaiters,” a protective cloth over their legs to act as a barrier against the snow and to add warmth. And for your upper body they should be covered by wind jackets, down vests, pile shirts, wool hats with ear flaps, an ear band, ski ear covers, heavy gloves and glacier goggles. Another useful item that has developed is the Windsailing Gear.
Windsailing gear guaranteed that there is wind is almost an effort less way of going across Antarctica. Also when skiing across Antarctica it is very important to stop for meal breaks and sleep to refuel your body therefore warm tents, sleeping bags and the right food is required. We have brought technology so far that you can do the trip on your own. The pioneer days are no longer there.
Technology gets you across the ice. Though it is still very important to train for a trip like this. With regards back to technology some of the items that you may take are – Global satellite communicator to send text messages in the form of an email, handheld radios to communicate between one another, GPS to track your daily progress- speed, time, distance travelled, position, how far to destination, – Lap Top computer for a variety of things including journal entries to digital images and video processing as well as Ipower’ – Ipower is an emergency source of power, you activate it by turning a handle which intern produces power to operate most small electronic devises. Health is another major issue having to travel 2, 400 miles on skis is not easy and an intense training program of up too 6 hours a day of exercise is required. Certain things during this training may include pulling car tyres behind them to simulate all the gear, Putting weights in bags to have resistance when running.
The Review on It Technology Computer Equipment
1. 0 INTRODUCTION A quote from a PC World magazine on "The Digital Future" said, "in the future, people will live twice as long, computers will die twice as fast" 1. As computer technology continues to accelerate at an unprecedented rate, information technology (IT) equipment waste is becoming an increasingly significant portion of the solid waste stream. Information Technology equipment waste is ...
As well as keeping good health you need to have all the right medical supplies to keep you alive with you. An equipment count would include- o Camping gear: three-person tent, foam pads, sleeping bags and snow shovel. o Cooking supplies: 17 to 28 gallons of white gas divided into several tanks, one-burner stove, cooker, spoon, storm matches, lighter, thermos antibiotics, pain killers, burn ointment, dressing strips, eye drops, sun cream, tape, sticking plaster and dental filling o Skiing and sailing equipment: two sleds, four sails each, skis (pulling and sailing skis) and ski poles. Glacier equipment: instep crampons with four points, snow anchors and ice screws with climbing rope. Personal equipment: sun goggles with nose protector, face mask. combination watch / barometer , diary, books, tooth brush and a Swiss army knife.
The equipment count can be much bigger and costs thousands of dollars to get set up for a trip like this. This is why the radio play has been such a success is because people realise what little people had back then and how hard it would of been to live like that for that amount of time. People want to remember what it was like and forget that technology is around and really respect the fact that we have all this technology. Thanks you for listening.
