She put him out like the burnin’ end of a midnight cigarette She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin’ to forget We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
Until the night
[1st Chorus]
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I’ll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby
(Sing lullaby)
The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind Until the night
[2nd Chorus]
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby
It can be seen right from the start that the women in this story cheated on the guy. This is seen in the second line where it says, “She broke his heart he spent his whole life trying to forget.” Everybody knows that a broken heart comes from unfaithfulness and it is something that can sometimes not be recovered in a whole lifetime, that is why he “spent his whole life trying to forget.” This is for all of those who are still confused about how they died. The lyrics say, “We watched him drink away his pain a little at a time / But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind… He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger.” This means that he drank a lot because he thought that with the drinking his pain of what had happened, would stop with alcohol. But in the end alcohol was not strong enough for either of them so they “pulled the trigger” they shot themselves as the only solution for actually bringing an end to their pain.
The Essay on Down: Personal Life and Time
In college it is easy to stray away from the main purpose, which is having a higher education. College years are supposed to include fun but not too much fun. There are many ideals to consider when trying achieving success in school. They way students manage their time and consume energy has an effect on the outcome of their success. Relaxation also plays a significant role in the turn out of ...
Or he finally drank so much that he got alcohol poisoning and he didn’t get to the hospital so he died. The video starts off as with the soldier on the bus who is having flashbacks of him and his wife or girlfriend before he left for the war. In his flashback everything is very bright and it all seems to be perfect and they are both happy. When he gets home and he walks through the door it is dark and depressing inside, I thought that this was a little bit of foreshadowing to what was going to happen next. He walks up the stairs and enters the bedroom and his wife is with another woman. He then leaves on a red motorcycle. Red in this case stands for love.
But a motorcycle stands for moving on in his life, which he just couldn’t do. He drinks and drinks and his ex wife is chasing after him one night and she is wearing a red dress to signify her love that she has for him. He then is drinking one night he starts to act really crazy. I think this is the point where he finally died. He then drank so much that either the alcohol acting as a depressant convinced him to kill himself, or he passed out from over drinking and never woke back up because he didn’t get to a hospital. Then they buried him beneath the willow. The weeping willow was used most often to symbolize immortality and rebirth, likely because of its swift-growing habit. Then she goes through the same story pretty much.
