After reading “This Month’s Cover” I thought that it made a very good statement about how women are treated and projected in the media world. our generation wants women to be skinny, beautiful, and have all the perfect features. The truth is no one is perfect it is impossible. The media puts pressure on women in our generation. Girls think the only way to be accepted in society is to look like the models from these magazines.
Women featured in these magazines sell their bodies to the people buying the magazine. The women are photo edited and have perfect faces and skin. It is deceiving to look at these women and having the feeling that you can never look that way. Women today do not only to have to worry about finding a job, and being healthy; they have to make sure that when they walk outside they look like they just stepped out of a magazine. Men put a lot of stress on how they want their women to look. Some men base the women he likes on her features. Very few base it on their personality and the true beauty of them.
They are many controversial issues with young girls wanting to look like the models in the magazine. They develop eating disorders and put their health in jeopardy. There was an article about Kim Kardashian, a television celebrity, which stated her perception on young girls wanting to look just like her. She continued to tell them that they are beautiful they way they are and to accept themselves for the way they are. She stated that she didn’t want the young girls to look like her, but to create a unique and individualistic image for themselves.

Women tend to compare themselves to other women in magazines and in movies. I believe that this is because society tells them that they need to look a certain way to be accepted by men. Not all men want their women to look like a Kim Kardashian, but there are a few men that perceive the way a women looks to her personality.
There comes a time in a woman’s life when she realizes that the women in these magazines and movies are just the same as her. They wear excessive make-up, get airbrushed, and have money to get all the plastic surgery they want. There was a show that focused on the beauty of what a real woman looks like. They took photo shots of a woman that had little make-up and wore nice clothes, and placed it on a billboard on a busy street in New York City. On the other billboard, they displayed a model. When people walked by on the street, they were asked which women was the definition of a beautiful woman. Majority of the responses were towards the woman with little make-up and nice clothes, not the model.
