Women have not always been allowed to serve in combat roles in the United States Military. Thus changing throughout history makes a big difference on how people look at women serving in combat roles. Women being able to serve in combat may require them to sign up for the Selective Service. Women having to do so may also make them feel pressured to join the military if there is a draft that comes upon the United States anytime in the future of women in combat.
Some people believe that women should not be able to serve in combat because of the things that it can bring up on the men to transfer to. With women being allowed to serve in combat men may feel inferior to them or threatened in a way that they should not have to experience in a combat zone. Some people believe that women should remain out of combat and stay in MOS positions that don’t require them to be in combat at any time while serving in the military.
Women are strong but are they strong enough to uphold a position in combat with the united states military because of the past of not being able to serve in combat, they can make the men of the military feel weak, and also them being in combat can lead to many things along the sides of veteran men in combat whom have been doing their MOS in combat longer than a women has. Women have not always been allowed to serve in the military in a combat position.
With women being allowed to serve in combat now, some say that “civilian women may be required to register for the Selective Service in case of a military draft” (Donelly).
The Essay on What Do Women Want From Men
Where did all those romantic fellas go? With all that can be, all that is within us, romance lives forever! So why not take advantage of it. Did you ever look around and wonder why a woman will chose another man over you? Maybe you are more handsome, intelligent, richer and so much more than that other plain fellow what's his name. But he's romantic and obviously knows how to treat a woman and ...
With this being said many people think that it is a bad idea for our military to let women in combat. With my fiance being in the Army right now I posted a few questions on my facebook to get some feedback from some of his friends that are also in the Army.
By doing this I asked; Do you believe that women should be able to fill the roles in combat other than medics or nurses? The feedback that I received was very good feedback from Major Stovall whom served in the Army for 20 plus years. He responded to this question like many of the other people on my facebook did but his was more informational because he served with men and women for 20 plus years. Major Stovall stood with the following response that made many people agree because of his
experience not just because he is a man; “Woman should not be allowed in combat due to the high emotional level they become a liability to all those that they are serving with. Yes women can multitask but it’s because of men’s narrow mindedness that we are able to focus on the mission at hand and make quick decision to achieve our objectives, also a female in the active combat zone becomes a distraction to the male soldiers that are on that team” (Scott).
People are really worried about women being forced to sign up for the Selective Service.
Some even say that letting them sign up for the Selective Service “would weaken the armed forces” (Donelly).
With women being able to participate in combat now this seems unfair to not let them participate in the Selective Service if there were to be a military draft come upon the United States. With the Military allowing women to be a part of combat they should be allowed to go through the same things that the men have to go through in case they are not in the military already and a draft comes upon us.
Women can cause many issues within a combat zone while they are in combat now that they are allowed to do so. The military has not always been a place for women. Women weren’t even allowed to join the military until 1948 to take on roles other than nurses and MOS positions that are secretary life. The military has to take many things into consideration, “each of the service plans to conduct studies of the physical, behavioral, social, and cultural effects of integrating women into combat,” before placing them into a combat zone (Shinkman).
The Research paper on Allowing Women Military Combat Men
America's Military For decades, America's Military Essay, Research Paper For decades, America? s military, and it? s citizens, have been grappling with a very important decision: should women be allowed to serve in combat? This issue has been in the media since I was in elementary school, and so far there is no end in sight. Although there are many advocator's for allowing women to fight in the ...
Each branch of the United States military has until “September 2015 to complete their plans to integrate women (or ask for an exemption)” (Shinkman).
Women within a combat zone can also help the United States Military. Although they can help the military there are only a fraction of women that even want to go to a combat zone. Men do not only tend to fear women and their skills; “Men are worried about losing their jobs to women; women are worried they will be seen as getting jobs because of their gender and not their qualifications” (Baldor).
With this comes a part of life that will always be there, men and women belong together but they will always be fearful of each other in a career path because of intimidation. Women have been a part of the United States military forever, as a wife of a military man, as a nurse, as a non-combat military member and other roles that are important to the United States military. Women are a big part of the United States military regardless of being in a combat role. Women in the United States military “currently make up more than 14% of the 1.
4 million active military personnel but were not allowed to serve in over 230,000 combat positions” (Goudreau).
With women now being able to serve in combat positions it enables the United States military to have women on every level that a man is and for them to be treated like the men are in the military. Having women in a combat position “ensures [they] have the best person in leadership positions regardless of their sex. If the best sniper is a woman, it should be her in the role” (Goudreau).
Some people believe that women in combat roles will “lead to lowered standards,” within the military for the physical part of being in the military (Goudreau).
The Essay on Women In Military Men Combat Man
Throughout the history of the United States of America, Civil Rights have expanded to include everyone. Many activists have fought for rights, setting precedents to be followed. In 1920, the 19 th Amendment granted suffrage to women. Since then, women have been gradually stepping up on the ladder of success. Everyday more and more opportunities are opening themselves up for women. Because of these ...
Women should regardless be let into the military and if they want a MOS in a combat position then let them pursue it, letting them pursue it will let them really get a taste and feel for how the men are actually treated in combat. From a women’s prospective from my previous question that Major Stovall answered Private Taylor Hall also answered my question on facebook.
Private Hall responded because she is not only a female in the Army but is also due to deploy in a few months. Her response was a very unique response, “Yes I believe that women should be allowed into combat but I also believe that the women who do go into combat as myself should have to have a mind set like a man and not want to always multitask” (Scott).
Private Hall believes as well as I do that women should not want to multitask much in a combat zone.
We both believe that women should be focused on the task at hand and complete the task before doing anything else. Women are strong but are they strong enough to uphold a position in combat with the united states military because of the past of not being able to serve in combat, they can make the men of the military feel weak, and also them being in combat can lead to many things along the sides of veteran men in combat whom have been doing their MOS in combat longer than a women has.
With women now being allowed to go into the military into a combat position this may require women to sign up for the Selective Service. Women were not allowed to join the military until 1948 let alone be in a combat position in the military that changed in 2013. Although women have not always been allowed to be in the military or in a combat position they have always been a big part of the United States military and they will continue to do so as long as women are around and as long as the United States military is around.
No matter what anyone says a women can be in a combat position, if she wants to be in a combat position then let her, let her feel how the men feel when they are in a combat position and see how they feel. Compare the men in women in combat and see who is less weakened or stronger after a deployment I guarantee that the women come back weaker and more emotional from a deployment in a combat zone than a man does.
