Work Applications The present work is aimed at discussion of the experiences at workplace. The paper will be designed in the form of filling out the work application. The example manager to be described in the work will be Jane Lindsey, an executive manager of one small company, which I suppose should not be mentioned here, as here I should discuss her weak and strong sides, which at times might sound as unethical. Among the five leadership dimensions, peculiar to each leader, but often varying from weaker to stronger depending on the personality, I should point out the strongest ones in Jane these are leading and managing. The dimension of heading in Jane is contrasted by authority, which is often a disadvantage among managers and leaders in general. Expert and character dimension have average strength in her, which has allowed her authority not to become the main negative trait of leadership profile.
It is essential to point out of Jane has got any of six traits of derailment, because these traits are very important for any leader as they define their relationships with their staff and senior managers. Every leader has its strengths and weaknesses but there are six main features of leaders who have derailed, among which are strategic differences with management and overdependence, which includes staying with the same supervisor for too long period of time or relying too much on personal skills. Jane has been noticed for her inability for creating an effective team, as she has always overestimated her personal abilities, and underestimated the role of the team in the general companys activity. This is one of her main leadership weaknesses, despite the fact that she possesses a definite number of advantages as she was able to achieve the position of the executive manager, which is an important position. The strongest features in Jane and her decision to make a leadership career to my mind were high energy and self-confidence. Any leadership needs high energy and Jane has always been on the move with new ideas and suggestions for the general improvements in the companys activity. Stability was not as peculiar of her as she was often noticed changing her ideas too frequently, so her high energy sometimes worked not for the better but for the worse.
The Essay on Leaders And Managers In Health Care
Healthy working areas are necessary in preserving positive interactions amongst nurses and between the patients and the nurses. The stressors within nursing may cause burnout and nonattendance or absenteeism which then may cause a shortage in health care (Shirey, 2006). A leader is vital in helping to maintain retention of the nursing population as this person will have positive influence on the ...
I suppose that for the better leadership characteristics of Jane her high energy should have been combined with stability, which could finally lead to the more thorough development of her ideas and better application of them to the companys activity. One of the weakest traits of Janes leadership characteristics were also sensitivity and flexibility towards other members of her team, as it has already been said she was too dependent on her self-capabilities, not taking into account the essential role of the staff in achieving the strategic goals of the company. The weak sensitivity was usually displayed through the rejection of any ideas which came from the rest of the staff, or any corrections to the strategy and tactics of the company. This rejection has not been done directly, as it could put some shadow on her competence as a leader, but it has become obvious that any staff initiative would not be realized. In the development of the financial policies two of the workers have spent much time creating new ideas which would correspond the modern trends of financial management, and these ideas were taken as positive by Jane but have never been realized. Simultaneously, intelligence was one of the strongest traits of Janes character.
One of my main wishes in previous working activity was the need of achievement a power. This need gave me such traits as high energy, self-confidence and flexibility towards the other participants of the staff I work with. These motives and traits also gave me a possibility to develop close business relations with other workers, and made it possible to require their cooperation in developing the new ideas, whenever it was necessary. Thus, I was able to achieve certain success in my career and this also allowed me being one of the main candidates for promotion. My main predictive motive need was in the wish for future promotion and career. Speaking about Janes motive profile, there should be distinguished the following traits which made her reach the position she now acquires. Self-affirmation; Power; Independence; Acknowledgment and respect. In a situation when someone expects you to behave this or another way, and treats you so that you behave exactly as you are expected to and thus dont have the choice of the ultimate result, often leads to failure or to success as you are expected to perform. In my previous working activity there has been a case with one of my co-workers, who was also striving for better position but made a mistake, having confused important documents, which were necessary for the business meeting with the main companys partners.
The Term Paper on Comprehensive Classroom Behavior Management Plan
The classroom is a dynamic environment wherein nothing is constant except change and the need to continually adapt. This environment affects both students and teachers; students are developing physically, cognitively, and emotionally. Teachers must respond to these changes in the students by adapting the environment, curriculum, instructional style and methods, and classroom management techniques. ...
He had a chance to correct the situation and put all the documents in order, but the situation has become known to the management earlier than he could do anything. He was made to give detailed explanations, and thus lost the time which he could use for the correction. Thus, he was initially treated by the management as if he had to fail, which ultimately happened to him and he had to fight with negative consequences, rather than preventing them. There are three levels of moral behavior, which can be called pre-conventional, conventional and post-conventional. In relation to the organizational behavior, there may be given the following examples for each stage: Pre-conventional level implies obedience and the self-interest orientation. In the company it means, that when a new worker becomes the staff participant, he is mainly concentrated on the fact what consequences will be brought by his exact behavior for him, firs of all, and not for the rest of the team, as he has the need for self affirmation among the staff.
The Essay on Human Behavior
Human Behavior There is an assumption that human behavior is influenced by forces outside the persons (by other persons and situational factors). The aim of this paper is to examine and to discuss the role of these social forces and the role of the social influence and social cognition. As far as human behavior is examined as the set of activities performed by persons, these activities are ...
Conventional level implies social orientation and interpersonal accord. In relation to each worker of the company this means that he (she), after having shown her personal qualities and having acquired certain (preferably positive) reputation among the rest of the staff, becomes more concentrated and open to the communication with other co-workers, pointing out their strength and weaknesses and creating his (her) own profile for each of them, thus giving his (her) attitude towards each worker. Post-conventional level of moral behavior is often confused with the pre-conventional one. This stage in the company presupposes the changes when the worker comes back to realizing his priority in front of the staff. In real situation it means, that having acquired certain attitude in the team and having created his (her) own attitudes towards each worker, the worker starts to strive for getting better position, thus putting his own interests higher than those of the rest of the staff. The unethical behavior is often met among the workers. One of the examples can be in the situation when one of the workers publicly accuses the other of stealing his own idea, instead of solving this problem intimately.
In this case the process of justification might take a long period of time, as it is often difficult to prove who was the owner of the successful idea, though for an experienced manager it would take only a couple of questions to distinguish who was right in this conflict. Another example of an unethical behavior at work might lie in the conflict of the two workers when one of them is new and is full of new progressive ideas, while the other one, being experienced and having worked at this position for a long time might reject anything new. In this situation it will be necessary to develop the system of team meetings, during which the manager will try to explain the meaning of the new ideas and their importance to the companys activity. I have once appeared in the similar situation, and had enough courage to do what I supposed was right. The situation mainly touched the question of implementing a part of new financial strategy, and Jane was against it. Thus, I have created several steps of implementing this strategy into life, which ultimately led to the some cost reduction, though I had to overcome Janes resistance in it..
