Computers have many purposes, such as sending and receiving e-mail, word processing, and surfing the internet. Even though people have computers at work doesn’t mean that they should be able to use them for whatever purpose they see fit during work hours. While your employer gives you the computer to use, you are the one deciding what you are going to do with it. Whether it be used to do work assignments given by your employer or to have fun or waste the companies time and money. The computer is there so that you can better accomplish the tasks set in front of you, not for anything else. If you are caught misusing your computer you should be fired.
This would help prevent employees from misusing their computers. E-mail should not be used at work unless it is being used to complete tasks that you are given by your employer for your job. If you write personal e-mail at work, first you waste your own time as well as the companies time that you should spend doing work. This can be very detrimental to the company, especially if the company has a deadline on the assignment you are working on. You don’t just waste the company’s time but you end up wasting their money. They pay you to complete a task and you don’t complete it, but you still get paid.

Every employer should monitor their employee’s computer usage. This helps to prevent the employee from misusing their computer.
