According to contemporary statistical data the average age of nurses working in public hospitals constitutes 44.3 years old. Theoretically, this average indicator means that nurses are inclined to be employed at the hospital facility. However, still from the critical point of view, the criteria of working advantages in private practice or hospital institutions for nursing labor force vary from advanced compensation packages in the former, improved insurance opportunities in the latter, fixed and extended schedules, enhanced career opportunities and etc. Practice shows that hospital facilities can provide various benefits for nursing personnel, both in terms of material and non-material nature. In hospital setting nurse can be offered scheduling options that include eight-, 10-, or 12-hour days to be worked within either seven or 14 days. Some institutions may provide full-time pay and fringe benefits to nurses who work three 12-hour days per week or who work two 12-hour shifts on the weekend. Simultaneously, from the critical point of view, such working hours are opposite to what can be observed in private practice, where there is no rotation, and the schedule is fixed. Being employed at hospital facility, nurses are offered subsidized meals in hospital cafeterias, which considered to be another non-material benefit. Hospitals offer low-cost or free meals to employees to keep them on the premises during work hours or in case of emergency. The value of the meals above the employees cost is nontaxable, as long as the meals are offered by the institution on its premises and the service is provided as a convenience to the organization. Unlike private practice sector, hospitals provide another important benefit to nurses, which is free parking. Although it is not considered to be a common practice for urban areas, some hospital facilities do offer free parking or covering its cost as a tax-free working condition benefit on a selective basis.
