I have tried to expand my animal experience to several species. These experiences have all helped me learn more about each species and become more comfortable working with them. By working at the animal hospital, I have been able to get an insight into the everyday work of a veterinarian. I am aware that veterinarians have a great deal of responsibility resting on their shoulders. Much of society consider pets to be members of the family and depend on veterinarians to keep their “loved one” in good health. I also realize that a veterinarian’s work can be time-consuming and very stressful.
However, I feel that the cons of the job are heavily outweighed by the pros. I think a veterinarian is the perfect job for me because it is a career that I would truly enjoy everyday. Also, by becoming a veterinarian, I feel that I will be contributing to society because animals play an important part in our world and they deserve to be happy, healthy and cared for. I have been working at Oak Hill Animal Hospital here in San Diego for the past two years.
I have gained much experience and knowledge from working there and everyday it continues to grow. This experience has also given me the opportunity to make sure that this is the right career path for me. I am one hundred percent certain that it is.
