World War Z is basically about the spread of the unknown disease that made dead people live, specifically used to call as “Zombies”. They don’t know what cause it and what kind of disease it is. So Gerry Lane a former United Nations investigator must travel the world to find a way to stop a zombie-like pandemic. There are some familiar aspects to the infection, but others are inexplicable. Humans are the only host, although animals are pursued. Dogs are used to detect infected individuals who are not showing symptoms.
Biting transmits the infection. Infected individuals reanimated with a shuffling movement. So those bitten people are transformed into zombies after 12 seconds. And there is this virologist, Dr. Andrew Fassbach, stated that the plague is a virus, whose origin must be found in order for a vaccine to be developed. But as they ventured, Gerry reveals his theory: that the infected do not bite people who are seriously injured or already terminally ill, since they would be unsuitable as hosts for viral reproduction.
He volunteers to inject himself with a terminal but curable pathogen on himself to see if his idea works. However, the wing in which the pathogens are stored was overrun with infected, after a doctor accidentally infected himself and then his colleagues. Gerry fights his way through the zombies into the pathogen storage vault, injects himself with a sample, and successfully returns to the main lab without being attacked.
The Essay on People Have Become Overly Dependent on Technology
The world today is more dependent on technology than ever. Over 90% of Americans today own a computerized gadget (Gahran, 2011). People receive email and text messages on cell phones, order fast food online, cars can park themselves, and even when we are driving, the traffic lights are controlled by a centralized computer system (Greenman, 1998). But what is all this access to technology doing to ...
Seeing that his “camouflage” theory works, the doctors rejoice and immediately treat him. Gerry returns to his family, now relocated to a safe zone at Freeport, Nova Scotia. A “vaccine” derived from deadly pathogens is developed that can act as camouflage for the troops battling the infected, and for fleeing civilians. As human offensives begin against the zombies, humanity now has hope.
