Benjamin Franklin had a big impact on early American literature. He was born in Boston and lived from 1706 -1800. Which was pretty long back then. When he was growing up he had had no good formal education.
He dropped out of school at age 10 and went to work for his father. Where he worked for him for 2 years. Then went to work for his brother as an apprentice. Where he found out that he liked to write.
He liked it so much that he wanted to go off and start his own printing shop. So he did, he left Boston and went to Philadelphia to open his own printing shop. There he printed a news letter called Poor Richards Almanac. Which told about information, observations, advise, and quotes of his that he made up. He printed this article from 1733 – 1785. Which was very popular.
Giving him the title as a great writer of his time. I think that Ben? s writing was very good especially his quote? s which are very famous and all of them are true quotes. I think that the reason he was such a good writer was because he wrote in a way that caught peoples attention in that time and today. That’s why the newsletter was published so long. His quotes where so famous because they were kind of funny but true in a sense. Later in life Ben was asked to draft the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independents.
I think that his writing convinced other writers to come forward and start writing and publishing. He didn? t even know the impact he had on other people. He just liked writing about things that he liked. His style was probable want everyone like about him and his writing most. Before he died he started writing his autobiography but never finished it because he died, at the age of 94.
