Written Assignment 4 Weather consists of events that happen outside each day in the atmosphere, including rainfall, temperature, humidity, etc. Climate is the average weather pattern that happens in a certain place over many years. The main difference between climate and weather is measure of time: climate shows how the atmosphere behaves over long period of time, while weather shows how the atmosphere behaves over a short period of time. Climates are classified into similar regimes. Classification methods can be empiric (those focusing on the effects of climate, namely, climate zones which are defined by evapotransportation, plant hardiness, or air mass origin) and genetic (those focusing on the causes of climate).
Under the Koppen classification climate regimes are as follows: rain forest, monsoon, tropical savanna, humid subtropical, humid continental, oceanic climate, Mediterranean climate, continental steppe, subarctic climate, tundra, polar ice cap, and desert. Cirrus clouds (cirrus, cirrostratus, and cirrocumulus cloud types) are the most common high clouds (cloud height is above 18,000 feet).
Middle clouds (alto) (altostratus and altocumulus cloud types) are located at 6,500 to 18,000 feet. Low clouds (stratus) (stratus, stratocumulus, and nimbostratus) are located up to 6.500 feet. There are also clouds with vertical growth (cumulus and cumulonimbus), and special clouds (mammatus, lenticular, fog, and contrails) (Clouds).
Maritime tropical air masses originate over the warm waters of Gulf of Mexico and the tropics. They usually indicate moisture-bearing and rain-producing weather. Maritime polar (mP) air masses originate over cold ocean currents or high latitude ocean waters.
The Essay on Climate And Weather Of The Peninsula
CLIMATE AND WEATHER OF THE CAPE YORK PENINSULA The Cape York Peninsula has a tropical climate. The Cape York Peninsula is situated in North Queensland Australia, which has two very distinct climates, the wet and the dry. The wet season is from October to March (summer). During this period it is extremely hot and humid. The humidity levels vary from 60% - 80%. The average temperatures range from a ...
They produce cold fronts and can produce snow or widespread rain. Continental tropical (cT) air masses originate in desert or arid areas in the lower or middle latitudes. They are responsible for hot and very dry weather. Continental polar (cP) air masses are dry and cold. They are responsible for bringing pleasant and clear weather during the summer to the North (Air masses bring variety of weather).
The greenhouse effect is the rise in temperature that happens because some gases in atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, or nitrous oxide trap energy from the Sun. If the greenhouse effect becomes stronger it could make the Earth significantly warmer.
The greenhouse effect had made Venus a furnace, and lack of atmosphere had locked Mars in a deep freeze (Venus & Mars).
