As many human beings think to know witchcraft as being an activity involving
spells and potions, as others think of it to be an ugly old lady on a broomstick, flying
through the sky on a halloween night. But what exactly is witchcraft and how is this an
Witchcraft is known to be the use of magical powers to influence people and
events, such as using spells or forms of sorcery to harm or help others around. Witchcraft
was known to be a special tradition to groups of people in Europe and parts of America in
the 1300’s. This tradition was too help heal others by using herbs and plants. Most people
thought that by using these herbs and plants to heal, it would cause harm to people,
otherwise using witchcraft. People who are known to use this, are labeled as ‘witches’. It’s
come to my mind to be an unsolved mystery because there’s no real evidence of ‘witches’
causing harm to others or the disappearences of people, or evidence of any potions and
spells actually working on a living, breathing creature, just killing them because of the
harmful chemicals used to make these potions. So to me, no one really knows how to
correctly work this ‘magic’ or what makes people believe this is something that’s true in our

world today. In my unsolved mystery essay, I will be discussing a few things, the believers
side plus the nonbelievers, Salem Village, The sacarifices of being witch, and also what my
opinion is on this unsolved mystery. So, first off, what exactly do the believers believe?
Believers of witchcraft and witches today, are more involved in doing what
witches then did and try to do what they did themselves despite the fact of having them
sacraficed. Some modern witches are more involved in voodoo dolls, love spells, and
potions too ease pain or make others suffer. If you label yourself as a ‘witch’ regular people
will think of you as weirdos, rather than wanting you dead. Believers think it’s true because
there’s enough ‘evidence’ being the spells, andthe stories people think to know. Non-
believers on-the-other hand, think of witchcraft to be a hoax, and something people made up
to have an excuse to kill someone in excuseof their pain. The disappearances and random
killings were all a coincidence to the non-believers opinions. Now, as I mentioned earlier
about the Salem Village, your probably thinking, what does the Salem Village have to do
Salem Village was located in the U.S in a state named Massachuesetts. The first
belief of witchcraft occuring, was in 1692. The thought of witchcraft came from a group of
religious people thinking that anybody involved with witchcraft was involved with the devil;
worshiping and having the devil live inside them was a case of witchcraft and people turning
into witches.Churches in that time, were not a huge fan of the whole ‘witch’, ‘witchcraft’
scenario. Of course, back in that time, there were sacarafices to being a witch. But why and
what were they?
There’s was many ways to sacrifice a ‘witch’, but the two famous ones would be
to burn or hang the accused witch. The church and fellow citizens accusing you of being a
witch would mean, a trial, and choice by church and others, weather you would be burned or
'Europeanwitchcraft was a unique phenomenon which differed from European high magic from the low magic or simple sorcery' (Russel 658). 'High magic and simple sorcery differ however in methods and motivation' (658). High magic was astrology and alchemy (658). Sorcerers are usually people that are motivated by strong feelings of jealously, revenge, malice which are experienced by everyone (Marwich ...
hung. As on March 5th, 1954, six of the woman that were found to be witches, were hung in
1962 and were deared by Massachuesetts Legislate. Of course, the believers back then
would only sacrafice you if you were a witch, believers now are all for it and try to attempt
the spells and potions themselves. If anybody back then was encountering witchcraft, or
having thought of doing so, they were not allowed to go to church. People did not want
anyone who was worshiping thedevil in their churchs, better yet anyone who was trying to
harm others in there town, or own homes. If by chance you were brought to church by a
citizen of the town, you would be sacraficed by choice of citizens and the church if they think
you’re involved with witchcraft. Are you buying of this? Because I’m not.
My personal judgement upon witchcraft seems to be unreal and just a myth.
Too me, there really isn’t enough evidence of witchcraft being valid and believable.
How exactly, do you think, potions and spells would attract different feelings to or for others
in action to making others feel the same or different? I don’t think it’s possible. Back then,
There wasn’t very many ways to mix these different potions with chemicals without
physically harming the creators because the ‘witches’ had no idea what they were dealing
In conclusion, I had told you about the possible beliefs of witchcraft and what people
shouldn’t believe about it, I had also told you about Salem Village, And what my opinion is
about witchcraft. Now, the question is, what do you believe? Is it real, or just another myth?
