Year End Report on Prep-School
Introduction
Afusing Elementary School created an Early Childhood Development for the last four years through the initiative of Mr. Proceso T. Mariñas, the principal of the said school and the Parents and Teachers Association. The first two years it was assisted by the PTCA and in 2008 it was already subsidized by the Department of Education.
The need for adequate pre-school learning has been felt particularly in the public elementary school. So in pursuant to DECS Order No. 64 s. of 1994 which mentions among others the lowering of entrance age of Grade One Pupils to six (6) years old starting SY 1995-1996, it is only important that the children are prepared socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. As such, many children entering Grade I without preschool experience and having apprehensions about school will make a smooth transition from home to school.
The eight week curriculum also known as the Early Childhood Education has been purposely formulated to help develop the social, motor and other readiness skills of young learners. It consists of skills/objectives and developmentally appropriate practices mostly made up songs, games, stories, movement and other play activities. The carefully selected activities serve as shopping list for teachers to choose which are most applicable to their particular lesson. These activities are aimed to make children feel that learning can be pleasant and enjoyable.

One of the major thrusts of the department is to provide quality early education services to all five year old Filipino children. Being able to provide such services through the Early Childhood Education Program would ensure children’s readiness to tackle formal instruction in Grade I.
The Eight-Week Curriculum consists of daily plans anchored on the content focus provided with daily appropriate messages. Each block from Meeting Time 1 up to Meeting Time 3 is provided with appropriate activities to help develop the skills. The learning experiences are designed to support the continuing development of children’s essential fine and gross motor skills, thinking skills communication and language skills and to teach them basic mathematics, science and social studies concepts that are age and developmentally-appropriate as well as culturally relevant.
You will also note that teacher-made materials are promoted and emphasized as children’s books and stories.
These are all deemed most effective for making the most of the preschool classes as a truly enjoyable and enriching entry point to school and easing their transition into the all-important first stage of their school life.
The Essay on National School Lunch Program 2
Do you like affordable food? What about a healthy meal? “A starving child is a frightful sight, ” says Anne Rice during an interview. Some would say that school meals taste, smell, and look gross, but the meals are balanced so that every one is healthy like in the My Plate on www.letsmove.gov. The National School Lunch Program should continue in schools because it helps low-income families, the ...

Conclusion
Each child is different. That is what makes him special. Some children are like wheelbarrows, they have to be pushed. Some are like kites, if you don’t keep a string on them, they will fly away. They are also like kittens, they are more content when petted. Also like a balloons full of wind and likely to blow up unless handled carefully, they are always dependable and cooperative too.
There are some basic things that all children have in common: they need love, security, good nourishment and exercise. Every child needs to feel protected, accepted and liked by others. Every child needs guidance and an element of control as he develops self-confidence and takes first step towards independence.
Since each child is different from the other, each has his own unique personality and way of behaving. Note how to interact with others. Is he rigid or does he compromise? Will he accept the opinions of others or does he always insist having things his own way? As you get to know the children in your care, you will come to learn and understand the nature of each child’s personality and to identify where he stands on the ladder. To his parents the child is a source of joy, to his nation a promise for the future. Both have hopes and dreams for their children and are entrusting them to your care. The children, too, have their own personal hopes and dreams – and, if not deferred, want to learn and to achieve. No one can guarantee the future but at least for the time that these children are in the teacher’s care, it is up to the teacher to give them knowledge opportunities, and warmth that every child deserves. This will be possible if the teacher is aware of the developmental characteristics of the children under his care.
