Abilene Christian University exceeds my expectations of a Christian University. I would like to go to a school that not only calls themselves “Christian” but actually acknowledges Jesus Christ as the rock of their school and education. Personally, God comes first in my life, a university that feels the same is absolutely magnificent!
My beliefs are such that it is not about a religion but rather a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. I do not belong to a denomination, I belong to God only because the relationship that we have is much greater than any religious personnel could give me. College will be a whole other chapter of my life that is vital to the success that I will achieve in the future.
I want to go to a university that will help build up my faith and encourage my walk with Christ; ACU definitely fits the criteria, instead of a school that will try to consistently break down my personal faith with a man’s philosophy, a secular university.
The research I have done over Abilene Christian University has intrigued more than any other universities have. For example, I was researching ACU’s nursing program and I came across the stories of alumni nursing graduates. I read two and began to cry. The stories touched my heart in such a way that I felt that God had given me confirmation by leading me to those two stories. I had recently asked God to show me the plan He has for my life. Every time I seek Him He shows me glimpses into His plan.
The Essay on My Christian Way of Life
I would not start this personal essay by saying that I am a devout Christian and that I love helping people or something to that effect. I am a Christian; however, I am not the devout type. I do not regularly attend church gatherings. I do not really engage in community services or avoid vices. My moral beliefs were first cultivated by my parents’ teaching. They are devout Catholic, so it is ...
I have always loved helping others in need, so when I was a child I wanted to be a teacher/softball coach. As a sophomore I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart and life as my Lord and Savior. Once I let Him in my desires for my future began to change. He put in my heart to do some sort of missionary work.
As I pondered about the idea of traveling and sharing the Good News, a voice from above began to speak to my heart. He put in my heart to pursue a career in the medical field! I felt that not only will I be able to be a missionary to share the Good News for His children’s spiritual and emotional needs, but as a nurse I will be able to help with their physical needs.
Those who I will serve, I pray that they will receive my blessings of medical help with an open heart to the Word of God because they are seeing God’s work and love physically shown through me as the open vessel. Not only does ACU claim their middle name but they act upon what they say.
I would love to go to a university that loves to be active. I am one who loves to be involved and make new friends. At ACU I will have multiple opportunities to get involved in the Abilene community and campus life. I am excited just to read about the clubs, special interest groups, and events that ACU provides. The most important thing that I believe ACU keeps in mind is what the Word of God says, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him (Colossians 3:17 KJV).”
With ACU having exceptional athletic teams, a beautiful campus, small class sizes, Christian scholars as professors, state-of –art facilities and technology, and Jesus Christ (life, teachings, and promises) as the unshakeable foundation there is not much more a student like me could ask for.
