Applying Diffusions of Innovations Theory
This essay be an examination and will express a form of innovation, such as a new or different idea, practices, or product using Rogers’ diffusion of innovation theory. An innovation, merely expressed, is “an idea perceived as new by the individual.” (Rogers, 1997, page 1 of 5) Nevertheless others will be able to investigate this form of innovation with a diffusion approach. Ideas and skills travel through nations, conversing amongst public communication methods over time. Innovations spread and travel through individuals like wildfire, from the innovator once they are started.
Studies on the Diffusion of Innovations, is to learn from the past, pursue and employ better original ideas. The beginnings of an innovation product in the market can be slow, until it becomes known and liked. As the innovation is produced and finds a place on the market, the requests and demands may increase or decrease. Depending on what the innovation may be and the demand for it will depend on how it may sell to the public. After the strategy is used, it will be decided if they will be perceived and considered as an innovator, early adopter, or a late majority. The innovation, communication networks, time, and social system are the four key essentials in diffusion of new ideas. Many innovations move quicker than others do. Characteristics of innovation will decide its rate of adoption. The characteristics are Relative advantage, Compatibility, Complexity, Trialability, and Observability.

I would say that an awesome form of innovation would be, an “American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen,” to lower the dropout rate, and have more students graduate. This as an innovation would make a great impact, because it will make a difference on the school dropout rates. This is a program to help resolve the high school dropout program that would be beneficial to go nation-wide. The dropout rate continuously increases every day. Children are not being armed to withstand all the pressure in their lives at home, school, in the streets, or even work. Many children are not strong enough, due to their environment, and quit school.
“Students are not being equipped to handle what’s going on around them,” Taylor said.
“We need to adapt to the students,” he said. “It’s not just in school (that they need us).” Teachers see the effects of children’s lives in the school environment. “High School teacher, Barrett Taylor said, “Schools need to adapt curricula to fit student needs.”
Children’s education should be as direct contact experience, for them to excel through school. “Put an extraordinary teacher anywhere with the proper support, they can show great academic gains.” (Stephanie Krauss, president and CEO of Shearwater Education Foundation)
If the school and home environment could actually work together, could actually make a difference in the effects of the children’s education. When there is teamwork between the school and home the children respond better. At home, if the parents are able to help and guide the children through their homework they will have better grades. The more effort that is put into the children’s education, the more the children will put into education and life otherwise. If the children are able to realize that someone cares and putting time and effort into them that might help them improve also.
Private Schools The first position of chapter three is supportive of private schools. This position feels that private schools prevent the public schools from having a total monopoly over education by offering the community an alternative choice. Drug, alcohol, and child abuse are some of the issues that affect the children at home. Many of the children become involved in child trafficking. When a child loses someone to death,
it will affect them too, emotionally and psychologically. These issues and much more can affect a child to where they drop out of school, or never went to begin with.
Many communities have a very low community support system. If the community became more involved with the children and the schools, it may help make a difference. “School districts now have to educate the community,” Adams said. “If we can do that, we’ll have more success.”
For the students to be successful in school, they need to have backup at home and school. Children need good and inspiring support from where it is available. They may always be able to receive it home; the schools try to help make a difference in the kids’ lives at school. At school the staff can only do so much for them.
This “American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen,” program would be helpful if they could get more involved with the children and their education, throughout the entire US. Outside of the US, it would make a difference if there were programs like this available for others. Anyone can be a teacher, but it would take one with the desire in their heart to help someone to learn, to be an extraordinary teacher. There have been some teachers that were there to teach students, but it was not in their hearts. It is not as effective when one has a job just for the money, when it is their heart it will make more of an impact upon the education for the children. (Marlon A.
