It has taken me a while to realize what an extraordinary influence my best friend Crystal has been on my life. Not only has she been a friend, but Crystal has influenced me in many ways, mostly because she’s smart, compassionate, and courageous. Crystal has always been very smart. She excels in school, and even received a full ride scholarship to college. I have always been able to turn to Crystal when I need help with school, and when I was questioning whether I wanted to go back to college or not. She was the one who encouraged me to with her good advice.
She’s not only school smart, she’s work smart also; Crystal was very motivating at work. We worked together for one and a half years and between the two of us we could solve almost all our problems. In addition, when I would get distracted she would help get me back on track, which really helped improve my work ethics. As a result of Crystal being good at school and her work it has helped her become successful in her life. She is now the manager of the financial records department of her current job.
Crystal has taught me the harder I try the more I get, just by watching her through her life experiences. I only hope I’m as successful as she has already become. Another great attribute about Crystal is how compassionate she is. She works full time, and goes to school full time, but regardless of how busy she is she always has time for others.
The Review on Relation Between Work & School
INTRODUCTION A relatively large amount of adolescents hold a part-time job while they are attending school. However, concerns regarding declining standards of academic excellence suggest reason for alarm at growing levels of employment among youth. This project will attempt to find whether a correlation exists between students who have a part-time job obtain lower grades versus students who do not ...
Crystal has two brothers and one sister she helps raise, and always spends a lot of time with them whether it’s going roller skating, taking them shopping, or going to the park, they love every minute of that attention she gives them. This has made me realize that the little things can make a big difference in someone’s life. Crystal is also very active in the community; she donates anything she can, volunteers for many activities such as at homeless shelters, nursing homes, and at a local elementary school. I always wondered how she did it until she took me with her.
I was amazed at how appreciative the people we helped were and how great it made me feel. I am now active in the community, but still can’t compare to how dedicated Crystal is to others and how compassionate she can be. The most admirable attribute about crystal is how courageous she is. She has been faced with many challenges in her life and I think each one has made her stronger. She doesn’t have a dad and this was very hard on her when she was younger. As for me, I have a dad and mom, my parents are still together, and this is something I have always taken for granted until I met Crystal and found out how frustrating this was for her.
I am now very grateful for how lucky I am. Not only that, Crystal was abused throughout her childhood by her mother’s boyfriend. She made up lies about the bruises, feeling she couldn’t tell anyone, and nowhere to turn. I don’t even know if I could have handled this, I thought my life was rough because my parents wanted me to do my homework and chores before I could go play. Even more, when she was twelve years old she saw her mother get stabbed by her mother’s boyfriend. Luckily her mother survived and recovered this tragic event after months of rehab.
When I asked Crystal how she survives after having so many tragedies happen to her she said, “No matter how hard you feel you have it, someone has it worse.” And that is something I will always remember and live by. Crystal has influenced me in many ways throughout our friendship. She has made me more knowledgeable in school and work, she has increased my awareness in the community, and foremost she taught me to always be strong. I hope everyone has a friend to look up to and admire as I do to Crystal, everyone needs a friend to walk beside.
