When my family’s Internet provider had some mechanical problems that interrupted our service for a week, my parents, my sister, and I thought we would never make it, Getting through long evenings without streaming movies, emails, twitter updates, and internet searches seemed impossible, We soon realized, though, that living off-line for a while was a stroke of good fortune. It became easy for each of us to enjoy some activities alone, to complete some postponed chores, and to spend rewarding time with each other and friends.
First of all, now that we were disconnected, we found plenty of hours for personal interests. We all read more that week than we had read during the six months before. Novels and magazines and much more, such knowledge in books we read is too useful for us in our schools and college. Reading has many benefits both mentally and morally. Firstly, your mind will be active and engaged into old age, and reading can help you forget the problems in your life, and get you captivated by the adventures of someone else. We each also enjoyed some hobbies we had ignored for ages. My sister returned to play on harmonica which she enjoys the most, I played football which was my favorite hobby at all. It’s useful to have time for your hobby which will be a stress relief. In addition, my sister and I both stopped procrastinating with our homework. We used to make our homework in the last second, but after having much time we start working on our homework on the same day we take it. We must manage our time and what is important come’s first.
The Homework on My Hobbies Essay
Today I am going to tell you about my hobbies. My favourite hobbies are playing basketball, playing volleyball, drawing and listening to music. Firstly, I feel a great sense of enjoyment from playing basketball because basketball gives me lots of fun and happiness. Basketball not only releases a lot of the stress which I get from school and homework but it also helps me keep fit. I also chose ...
Second, we did chores that had been hanging over our heads for too long, there were many jobs around the house that had needed attention for some time. The grass needed to be cut and the roof needed to be clean, we worked a lot and we painted the garden wall and planted flowers. We had a chance to do some long-postponed shopping. We went to the market and bought some essential things for our home, like new carpet because the old one had been torn and we bought new lamps and we fixed the air conditioner. Also, each of us did some paperwork that was long overdue. The assignments that needed to be done and lab reports and summarizing books, also I made research in chemistry the doctor asked me to do it to help me in my course.
Finally, and probably most important, we spent time with each other. Instead of just being in the same room together while we stared at different screens, we actually talked for many pleasant hours. My dad asked me about my college and how I’m feeling about it and he asked me if everything is okay, my sister helped my mom in the house and we had fun for too many hours. We watched movie together and had a great dinner. Moreover, for the first time in years my family played some card games and board games together. The last time we played together was 4 years ago, before everyone got busy with his own life and virtual life, we really enjoyed our time.
Because we couldn’t keep up with everyone electronically, we had some family friends over one evening and spent an enjoyable time with them. My dad and mom friends came to have dinner at our home and their kids who where our friends also. We asked them about their life and what they’re doing in school and we played playstation together. It was a great time. Once our internet provider got the problems fixed, we were not prepared to go back to our previous ways. We had gained a sense of how our online activities had not only taken over our lives, but had also interrupted our family’s life. We still spend time streaming movies, gaming, e-mailing, and tweeting, but we make sure to spend at least two evenings a week focusing on each other. As a result, we have found that we can enjoy our virtual lives and still have time left over for our real lives!
