1. In your own understanding, What is Community Organizing?
Community organizing is a process where people come together to strengthen bonds and the community for a positive change. They work together to achieve a functioning community for themselves and the future generations. 2. Explain the phases of Community Organizing (give example/s).
1. PHASE ONE: COMMUNITY SELECTION- this is the stage where the organizer will choose an area in the community where he will conduct a social investigation, an interview with the officials, and to have an inspection. For example is going to a specific neighborhood in the community and ask them about their lives there.
PHASE TWO: INTEGRATION- this is the stage where the organizer integrates and socializes with the locals. He goes to the community and joins a specific group of people . He then experiences being one of them and can relate to them to catch up with the current situation of the community. An example is joining the youth in their “tambayan” then identifies problems in the community.
PHASE THREE: ANALYSIS- this is the stage where the organizer analyzes the situation of the community as well as the people living there since he is already done with the two first processes.
PHASE FOUR: COURSE OF ACTION- this is the stage where the organizer acts as a facilitator wherein he has to encourage the people to speak up about their problems. He should plan regarding the problems and guarantee the participation and commitment of the people on it.
