Many people have sweet memories about their childhood connected with their parents and grandparents. I think my mom and me are not really one of them. As for me one of the reasons was my grandma’s personality-she was not that nice, kind, wise and funny granny as there is a belief she should of be. There were many things that created her rough character, like World War I and II. Nevertheless my mother never wanted to be like her. My grand mom’s negative sides inspired my mom to have opposite personality.
My mom always wanted to feel and give caress and care ness, she always wanted to earn more: mentally and physically. Forming of personality takes its start mostly in childhood. A little kid’s heart needs a lot of warm feelings, caress, and attention. My grandmother played with her daughter very rarely and treated her very seldom too. My mom had only one teddy bear -gift from her father.
You say, — granny did not have enough money for toys? Maybe, yes, but she did not care either. There was no hate in the house, no screaming; I guess my granny just has different kind of love. So the whole little girl’s world contended with her teddy bear, some self-made toys and sweet memories about her daddy. My mom has very bright picture in her mind about her very first day of school. She had gotten very big stain on her only uniform dress in that morning. She started to cry.
When she asked for help, grand mom told her to wash and iron her dress by herself. These couples of words were like thundering in the sunny sky for my mom. Although she did everything and crying went first time to school, after that day little girl totally changed. She forced herself to become very strong and bright person in school. School years are always fun and full of knowledge.
The Term Paper on 1901 Dad Mom School America
October 11, 1950 I found the diary of my girlhood journey and new life in America yesterday. I feel that the story and lesson I learned from it are priceless and should be told; therefore I am publishing this collection of deep innermost thoughts from my youth for you to read and enjoy. It is my hope that you can look at your life and realize all the things there are to be thankful for. It seems ...
But not everybody feels rich when he (she) rich soul and mind. Not everybody feels like he is in treasury, when he is in library. My mom does. My grandmother had only four grades of education because of political problems and she has never aspire to anything more, except reading The Bible sometimes. She has never been interested in any manners, which was getting my mom embarrassed in front of different people all the time.
There was nothing she was interested in that she would look for information about. She has never helped her daughter with any homework, which pushed my mom to study even harder. Eventually my mother had earned some medals in Math, Ukrainian and sport competitions. Now my mom y interested in health problems, chemistry, cultures and manners different countries. This knowledge she passes to all around, she can find common conversation with anybody. She is very easygoing person.
Mostly parents are trying to help their kids, to give them some kind of support before they make firs step into ” real, adult world.” They are trying to give better future to their descendants. But my grandma lived her life like light leaf drifting with the stream. She does not care about surroundings. What is going on in the world, how the house looks like today… so my mom made their place look better with self embroidered pictures, dry flowers. My granny would never go miles away to make some money, like my mom did-went to Poland to resell some stuff.
Granny just did not care about her lifestyle. Every person has his (her) bad and good sides. But everybody chooses his own role in the theater where he is the only director and producer. I respect my granny very much, because there were many reasons, which created her character. And I am very proud to be daughter of my mom, first of all because she never gives up and than because she shears her “treasure” with us.
Now I am trying to pay it back, but love is priceless. I am very thankful to both-my mom and my grandma for this love.
