When students hear about year round schooling, many of them automatically shun the idea. Who wants to go to school for the whole year But the idea of year round schooling is actually a very good one and is more beneficial to the students that the current school system. Year round schooling could keep kids out of trouble. They won’t have as much time on their hands as they would if they were on summer vacation. They would be going to school, doing homework, and studying for tests. There are school activities to attend to, be it the school play rehearsals, or an after school sport. They won’t have as much time to lounge around, get bored, and finally, get into trouble while engaging in foolish activities to fill up time. Teenagers tend to lean towards the bad side of having fun when they get bored, especially if there is a lot of time to kill.
In the current school system, most of the beginning months of school are wasted on review. Everyone forgets after such a long break from school, especially in Math. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. The best argument for a year round schooling is that there are frequent breaks. They are long enough for the student to rest and revive him / herself , but short enough so nothing is forgotten. Students tend to “burn out”, especially during the long strewth of school between spring break and summer vacation. With the frequent breaks, the student has something to look forward to within a reasonable amount of time. Summer vacation seems too far away and the student becomes discouraged and lazy.
All in all, schools across the nation should adopt the year round school system. Although it has its drawbacks, the benefits of year round schooling outweigh them. Chances of students getting in trouble will decrease, less time will be wasted on review, and the students will have more frequent breaks, which will allow the student to perform better in school.
