Introduction
This literature is aimed at comparing and contrasting British supermarket chain ASDA Stores Ltd with Ultimate Taste store. ASDA is a Private Limited Company while African and Asian store is a sole trader. In the course of this report, the advantages and disadvantages of ASDA stores and that of Ultimate Taste store will be looked at.
Analysis of ASDA stores and Ultimate Taste store
• ASDA Stores Limited is a branch of Wal-Mart; it deals on grocery and general
Products in the UK. ASDA as a company has over 378 stores within the UK that mainly deals on groceries and clothing. ASDA headquarters is located in Leeds in the UK and employs about 170000 employees (Asda Stores Limited, 2010).
While, Ultimate Taste store is a single seller that sells hot and cold drinks, kebabs, chips, hot dogs and lots more. Ultimate stores mainly prepares lunch meals, the shop is operated by its owner.
• ASDA Stores gives customers the option to order goods online and get the goods delivered to their homes while the Ultimate Store does not have such option for its customers because it’s quite expensive and it is run by just one person which makes it difficult to leave the shop and deliver goods to customers.

Liability- ASDA has limited liability, which is the liability of subscribers are limited to what they have invested in the company. Ultimate Stores has unlimited liability, it takes full responsibility for debts and losses (Worthington .I and Britton .C, 2006)
Administration- Ultimate Taste Store pleases himself with the day-to-day running of the business. However, that of ASDA is operated according to its rules and regulations (Wetherly .P and Otter .D).
Taxes- Government generates more tax from ASDA Stores Limited because it generates more revenue compared to Ultimate Taste store.
Financial consideration- it’s more difficult for Ultimate Taste store to raise capital because it’s a sole trader and most banks and investors have insecurity about of their investment unlike other businesses such as private limited companies example ASDA which have more documentation, find it easy to obtain loans from banks and usually investors invest into such companies (Wetherly .P and Otter .D, 2011).
Continuity- in the case of death of the owner of Ultimate Taste store, the business will be closed down except his relatives or friends decide to operate the business. However, the death of a shareholder of ASDA does not affect the operation of the business.
Financial accounts- Ultimate Taste store is not required by law to produce financial statement whereas ASDA Stores Limited is required by law to produce a financial statement at the end of the year using the double entry principle and a balance.
Shares- shares in ASDA Stores Limited are transferable thus ownership may change but the company still continues however, shares are not sold in Ultimate Taste store because it’s a sole trader (Laurie J. Mullins, 2007).
Conclusion
In conclusion, ASDA Stores limited being a private limited company if different from Ultimate Taste store in terms of structure, ownership and mode of operation.
