Every one knows the NEWTON’s III law, “for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”.Likewise,emission of carbon from our environment returns us a big threat.We people must think of it then we have to act to that.Only creating awareness of those things cannot make people do it properly.From basic things every one must act without fail.lets see the necessary things and our college’s support to make our earth healthier.

CARBON FOOTPRINT:
carbon footprint is defined as the amount of green house gases (carbondioxide[C02],methane[CH4])emitted from various sources of energy like human resource,automobiles,industrial and domestic consumption,etc..It is also known as ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT. “A measure of the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) emissions of a defined population, system or activity, considering all relevant sources, sinks and storage within the spatial and temporal boundary of the population, system or activity of interest”is the defenition given by great persons. There are different methods to calculate it. Several free online carbon footprint calculators exist, with at least one supported by publicly available peer-reviewed data.We calculated our campus carbonfootprint with those caculators.

NEED FOR CARBON FOOTPRINTING:
Without proper planning we can’t execute a work in good manner.Likewise without carbon footprint calculation,we can’t take proper remedial measures to save our earth.In the world,most of great scientists are warning us about global warming which leads to unimaginable disasters.To know about position of the global temparature we must know our carbon emission.Because,carbon in the atmosphere traps the heat from the sun and keeping the heat there which makes earth warmer and warmer.

STEPS TAKEN BY VARIOUS COUNTRIES:
Every nation in the world was working to reduce carbon emissions by taking various steps via green technologies.But there is a huge lump of carbon in the environment.so,it is very tough to completely eradicate carbonfootprint and it is also impossible.Some of the countries trying to implement solar and wind mills rather than thermal and nuclear energies to reduce emission of carbon.

CALCULATION OF CARBON FOOTPRINT IN OUR CAMPUS:

Amount of Energy 1500 kms per day 200000kwh per month 2000 peoples (apprx.) 25000 litres per week
From this above table we can get the total amount of carbon emitted to the environment from our campus.These emissions are from the transport uses,electrical consumption,burning of wastes in an open area,living resources. Moreover we can compensate this emission easily because of our greener environment.

METHODOLOGY ADOPTED :
The method involves various steps: Consulting the transport officer to obtain the amount of fuel used for college vehicles. Consulting the security officer to determine the no. of vehicles entering our campus. Consulting the drivers of college bus to determine the mileage of vehicles and the vehicle’s engine condition. Consulting the electricity department of our campus to determine the average power consumed in our whole campus. Population existing in our campus. Then using the online carbon audit calculator to find out the amount of carbon exhaust from our campus. Finally tabulating the whole thing under required topics as mentioned above.

MEASURES TO REDUCE CARBON FOOTPRINT IN OUR CAMPUS:
We took a great care to reduce our cabon footprint in our campus.our management planted more trees and plants to reduce carbon emission.In our college they are providing cycles to use inside the campus,which can reduce fuel consumption.they are maintaining those plants by proper water distribution.At the roads they are using solar lights to reduce electricity consumption.Even the dry lands behind some depertments are converted into lawns to keep campus much greener.
OUR SUGGETION:
I suggest that we can reduce our environmental carbon accumulation only by planting trees, less energy consumption, use of public transport rather than personal transports, use of renewable energies like solar energy, wind energy, etc..If we follow this our earth will become much greener than ever.

CONCLUSION:
Thus we are taking much care to keep our environment greener than warmer.carbon footprinting helps to warn us to take care of our earth.so,we have to act better to keep the environment good. “we should let our earth blow;its hard to find a good planet”….
