1. Compare and contrast Europe, Africa, and the Americas prior to Columbus’ voyage.
Prior to Columbus’ voyage, there were many similarities and differences between Africa ,Americans, and the Europeans. One similarity between all 3 areas were that agriculture played a big part in keeping the population. A similar charecteristic between Europe and Africa is that both needed gold for economic Functioning. A difference, however, is that the Americas did not want nor seek gold at this point in time. One similar charecteristic between Europe and Africa both went into international trade, while a difference being that the Americas were isolated to the rest of the world.
2. What were the driving forces of the Age of Discovery?
The driving factors of the Age of Discovery were those of political economical , and technological means. If were talking about economics here, Europeans were looking for new resources and a faster trade route to East Asia, which would lower costs of reaching the goods in Asia and increase wages. Imperialism made alot countries to rise their political area by venturing new lands. Great Britain, for example, created colonies in the New World to expand the empire and enhance their economy. Some people, however, traveled across the waters to increase new converts to their individual religions. Alot explorers set sail to gain their intelligince of the world and amend upon ship and exploration technologies.

3. What was the Columbian Exchange and how were Europe, Africa, and the Americas affected?
The Columbian Exchange was the exchange of disease, goods, culture, and people between the Europeans and natives of the New World. Europe was affected greatly by the Columbian Exchange in a good way. For European countries had access to a great amount of new unused resources. This rose their economies to a new level and bullion levels skyrocketed. It affected Africa because Europeans needed for labor in the Americas and they bought their slaves on the west coast of Africa. As a result of this Africa saw trade and had more contact with Europeans. Making their correspondin cultures come in contact with each other. This is the equal for natives and europeans to the Americas. Europeans invaded in and influenced and spread their culture to the native people. This includes religion, as many converts to Christianity were added. The largest and most important impact of this Exchange affected the Americas and there people in a large way. When the Europeans invaded they brought over many diseases that the natives had not seen nor built immunity to these diseases. Smallpox was one of the many diseases that decimated the population. 4. Compare and contrast Spanish, Dutch, French, and English settlement in the New World.
The Spanish camptured most of the the people of the West Indies and put them to work as slave laborers . The Spanish also went into present day Mexico and South America where they manualy inputed natives to work to mine gold and silver. The Dutch, being different from the Spanish, began in the East , setting up a an area on Java and even going into Japan . Identical to the Spanish, however, the Dutch also took over control in the Caribbean. The French settled some areas in Florida, and tried to take over the Spanish fort in Havana but ended up with their main settlement in Quebe. The French did not use slaves rather there own people, unlike the other two. They did, however, boost many converters to Christianity as so did the Spainards. The English attempted many privatized colonies through many tactics. They eneded the same with nearly every colonie death of the natives. The causes ranged from starvation and disease to fighting with the Natives. Eventually, the King took over the colony at Jamestown, giving it a governor and making it the first royal colony. Different from the three countries, the English had many issues with native people , these issues, had nothing to do with slavery, but with land and resources. English and Europeans major raw material was tabacco.

5. Summarize the process by which the English colonies were established.
Different colonies were established in different ways. Some were ruled directly by the crown, some were owned by private parties, and some were joint stock companies. The ones founded by stock companies worked much like venture capital corporations today. Groups of people invested money in a company, getting stock based on how much they invested. The company received a right to colonize a particular area of land. The company hoped to make money by getting people to go there and do something to make money. That could be finding gold or some other precious commodity, or it could be developing farming communities that would provide goods for sale back in England.
6. Describe the relationship the colonies had with the Native Americans.
The colonies had an bad and hasty relationship with the Native Americans. The Spanish people were very harsh to the natives and took many of them as slaves and forced them into manual and hard labor to fing and bring . The French,had an entirely different promblem, they did not take them as slaves or workers but had many disputes over land which led to battles. Both of them, did,, barter goods such as guns, furs, and food. The English had an distiguished relationship. Their relations fluctuated between trading and being friendly to raiding Indian villages at harvest time. John Smith had managed to get himself in the good graces of the Native Americans. When he went back to England, the relationship suffered and the killing resumed.
7. Compare and contrast the three regions of Colonial America in terms of reasons for settlement, ethnicity, religion, economics, and politics.
The Spanish settled in the south because they werein search for the East Indies but they ended up in the Caribbean. The French and English, to the Spanish, were seeking economic endeavors and settled in easily defendable territories near the water because it was the easiest way to keep the small amount of people they had in an unknown land. Similar to the French and English the Spanish brought their ethnicity and culture with them and tried to model their main countries. The Spanish differed on religion in the New World from England and France. . The Spanish in the Caribbean, however, did not have as much religion in their settlements due to the high volume of Natives in the islands. All three regions are similarities in their economic decisions in that they all used the farm method or gathered what was specific to their region. They differ, though, in that the French exported furs and lumber because it was abundant in southern Canada and northern America. The Spanish grew sugar. The English grew tobacco, rice, and cotton.

8. How did the relationship between England and her colonies evolve over the period from 1607-1763?
The colonies at first were of the British Empire. As the 17th century went on, the colonies began to develop their own identity and follow their own rules and laws as opposed to British law. Britain had to get the colonies’ agreement to such a law through local officials for it to be enforceable. So, the relationship evolved from total control by the British to more of a guiding role with the colonies making many decisions for themselves. When the British tried to take control, and it it led to revolution.

Life in the backcountry was different from life on the coast in that the people who lived in the backcountry were more like pioneers on the frontier than civilized settlers of smaller cities. The backcountry was not anglicized. they had no newspapers or professionalism anywhere. There was no clergy of any kind. Most had never practiced religion. The inhabitants of the backcountry were uncivilized, and as wild and untamed as the land they lived on.

The seeds of American democracy and liberty were placed during the colonial period because of the of war. Benjamin Franklin published his famous political cartoon “Unite or Die” it meant for the colonies to come together and stand strong in the face of war. There was a proposition by Franklin to merge the colonies, with his idea created in the Albany Plan. This plan was sadely denied . However, the first attempt at uniting the colonies to form a coalition.
