4. Watch Der Fuehrer’s Face. In a one page summary discuss the elements of propaganda that are used in the clip (15 marks)
There are many common and effective techniques of propaganda used in the Donald Duck Der Fuehrer’s Face.
One of the most used things in the propaganda was the Transfer technique, which is a method used to carry over the authority and approval of something you value and worship. Usually the transfer method uses symbols, and those symbols stir emotions, and feelings we either support or oppose. In Der Fuehrer’s Face, the Swastika is a symbol that has an incredibly strong meaning and power for the German people and for people all around the world. The Swastika is everywhere in the video, it is on the peoples cloths, it is on posters, wallpaper, artillery shells and even the clouds, bushes, fire hydrants and windmills are shaped like Swastikas. This is a very important element of propaganda in order to get people to believe a certain thing. The interesting this however about the Swastikas in the background is that you almost don’t notice the first time you watch the video, but either way your brain picks it up, and that is how also during the war so many people believed so strongly in the Swastika.
Another element of propaganda used in the video is Repetition and Emotional Phrases. This technique is when a name is repeated many times during an advertisement. This technique may also be used in a song or tune, which is appealing to the masses and it can get stuck in your head, making you think about the phrase many times. During Der Fuehrer’s Face, the phrase “Heil Hitler” is repeated many times, it is used in a song, and just as a phrase that Donald Duck must repeat every time a picture of Hitler appears, on conveyor belt. The reason I put repetition and emotional phrases together is because, not only is Hitler’s name repeated many times throughout the video but it also brings strong emotion to people when they hear it. An emotional phrase that is used in the video but is not repeated that often is the word Aryan and Nazi, those two words bring are emotional to many people.
The Essay on Alas Babylon Critique Time Phrase Great
Critique Alas Babylon, by Pat frank, is a story that revolves round the actions of a single idea, survival. This is reflected in his choice of the title in itself. It is a phrase that is repeated several times in the book, and brings a sense of uneasiness each time. These words come from a part of the "Revelations of St. John, which describes the decadence of Babylon and the evils that surrounded ...
Reinforcing Existing Attitudes is another element used throughout the video. During World War II, Hitler was the dictator in Germany, and this video enforced his absolute power and rule over the people. This is grasped when you look at the song’s lyrics, which say `not to love Der Fuehrer is a great disgrace`, Is we not the superman? Aryan pure superman?” and “When Der Fuehrer yells I got to have more shells…We heil, heil and so we make more shells.” This shows how Hitler and his Aryan race are the absolute people and if you don’t agree with them, then you are in trouble, and you basically have to give up your life for them as they say “you 48 – hour daily shift” Another thing that was added in this video that was very interesting was that in the band at the beginning of the video there were all the Axis leaders, such as Hermann Goring, Joseph Goebbels, and Emperor Hirohtio playing different instruments, this also shows how the Axis leaders and what they fought for was associated with Hitler, and was an important part of the propaganda.
My opinion of this propaganda was very interesting, I thought that it had the ability to be a very powerful commercial during World War II for Hitler, if certain things were changed such as the end, where Donald wakes up in America, but if it was just the first part and if it had a more positive association with Hitler, I think it would have been very good for the Nazis. I believe this because the song is very catchy and the video is very interesting especially for children.
