End of education is character
The end of education is character. Without a proper character, education is of no value. Nowadays, under the pretext of separating the religion and the state, the schools don’t teach anything but subjects. Morals that used to be taught earlier are abandoned by the public schools. If one lacks character, values and principles in life, however educated a person is, what can he accomplish in life? Even if he achieves academic and professional achievements, will that result in achieving peace of mind?
We recently had a spiritual discussion among a few friends and the subject matter of discussion was about education. One of the friends asked, “What is true education?” Other friends sat in a circle tried to address that question. One said, “Education without character is of no value. Education we get might help us make a living but we won’t be able to take anything with us when we leave. On the contrary, if we build character, the benefits derived from that would be carried over to our next life.”
Another friend said, “Sometimes I wonder what can I teach my children when I am work in progress and still in the process of learning so many things. Education is a life-long exercise and it stops only when I leave my mortal coil.” “Education is learning that every life in this world came from a same source and to put in a clear perspective, understanding only the name and form of each person is different, all lives originated from the same source” said another friend.
The Essay on Education In Life
Education is championed to be the solution of many prevailing problems society is facing today. An overarching view of education can be seen as a way in which people gain knowledge, information and understanding, and learn new skills. One can safely say that the breadth and depth of what can be learned cannot be finished in a lifetime and thus it often forces educators to sieve out and choose ...
My wife said, “Whether we need it or not, we get a lot of advice from several sources throughout our life. We can take what we find useful and others we can learn to ignore. At the end of the day, listening to our own consciousness and making decisions based on what we believe in our heart is the right way.”
When my turn came to say something I said, “The fact that we are born in this world is an indication that we have come to learn something. We face series of experiences in life that would give us the knowledge we need but our true challenge is to learn what we need out of these experiences. Each experience in our life is unique and different and intended to teach us something and it is our mind that connects all of them together and makes it into one life. True education is learning why we came into existence and learn more and more about us so that we can travel towards our inner core. The journey of life is inside of us and not in pursuit of worldly pleasures which are transient in nature.”
One young person said, “We are not here to fix others around us. Our primary objective is to learn lessons out of our life and advance to new heights by eliminating our bad qualities. It is about building our own character.” Another lady said, “True education is about learning to serve other fellow beings in our life through sacrifices.”
Finally we concluded the meeting with the following understanding:
1) Our existence is for a reason and finding that purpose is true education
2) Each experience is also for a reason to learn something out of it whether it is good or bad
3) Each one of us have different names and forms but the source of all of us is one and the same
4) Listening to our own consciousness and making decisions in life is the key to our success
5) Self confidence is an essential quality and it can be achieved only through self satisfaction
6) Self satisfaction is achieved in life through self sacrifice and understanding the art of giving.
Our senses provide us information, our experiences provide us knowledge, our discrimination faculty provides us wisdom and it is our awareness that provides self-realization and bliss.
