Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to complain about the dreadful article published by the Sun named ‘One dead in New Year shootout’; released on 1st January 2010.
Firstly, I was absolutely horrified by the content of this article. It not only camouflaged the truth, but totally sensationalised the fact that there was shooting, involving black person.
I have read both the Sun article and the Family Press Release, which was written in response to the Sun article to put across the true side of the story. After reading them both, I had to write this letter to complain about how the Sun totally altered the real story in order to make it suit their manipulating, misleading, manoeuvring approach to their readers.
I am going to introduce you to Darren Deslandes, who was tragically killed in Thornton Heath, south London. Darren Deslandes was a respectable gentleman, without question. Abody else was involved in the incident and the two men ‘’simply drew guns’’ in the street and started firing at each other after a heated row’. ‘Heated row’ suggests that there was tension between them. The quote ‘According to locals’, proves that this is unreliable evidence, because the source is unnamed so it is not guaranteed. This quote also sensationalises the incident because a sane man would not draw out a gun. This gives the impression that they were most likely drunk. However, I am 100% sure that they were not. When I refer back to the Family Press Release, it gives me the idea that the murderer intentionally shot Darren and Junior. It quotes ‘The murderer returned … then pulled out a gun’. Despite the fact that all this happened the Sun comes out with ‘The two men ‘’simply drew guns’’ in the street and started firing at each other after a heated row’. There is no evidence at all suggesting that the two men drew out guns and started firing at each other. The sun modifies the truth; twisting it an imperceptible way.
The Essay on High School Women Articles Men
Nikola Ivanov During my tenure as a tutor at Huron High School, I have noticed that most of the people that I tutor are males. In actuality, I have yet had a chance to tutor a female, however I have seen some of my classmates tutor many females. And from what I have seen, it seems that there are as many females as there are males. So for this instance, I notice that gender truly does not matter. ...
Another quote in the Sun article is ‘One Local, who did not want to be named, said he had spoken revellers who were walking home from a nearby party when they saw the bloodshed’. Again, ‘One local’ is an unreliable witness. ‘Revellers’ are potentially suffering from impaired judgement. The word ‘bloodshed’ emphasises the violence to entertain the reader. I believe that this part of the article is false; there is no vital evidence and the sun is just trying to entertain the reader.
Your article states: ‘He said that officers from operation trident, the forces black-on-black gun crime taskforce, were investigating. No arrests have yet been made.’ The quote ‘black-on-black’ suggests that crime is limited to the black community and reinforces the picture that the victims were criminals already. This might cause readers to feel afraid of areas that are populated by ethnic minorities. The suggestion ‘No arrests have yet been made’ contradicts the rest of the article by implying that there may have been no other person responsible for the crime. The readers are reassured that the police are still conducting themselves properly, according to the procedure. However there is still a suggestion that danger continues.
I suggest that you give an apology to the Deslandes family. Thank you very much in advance to your attention to this matter.
Yours Faithfully
