HIGH LIFE STANDARDS AND ENVIRONMENT
Humankind is always tends to live comfortably. For this reason, a lot of things have been
invented in a long period of time from ancient times to today. Although this desire stream for
long time , there is not a difference with the ancient times and today. In ancient times people
invent something for satisfying the needs ; however , today inventors make new things especially
for comfort or for the decrease in time consumption . These new things especially in this era
improve people’s life standards rapidly . However, these inventions make people unconscious
consumers and this unawareness harms nature. People think that it is not possible to harm nature
for high life standards but it is possible for humans to improve and have a high standard of life
without harming the environment.
Some people claim that for the high life standards of living it is a must for industries to
use the environment and they think if the industries do not use the environment factories can not
find energy to produce . Secondly, they think industrial wastes are inevitable . According to those

energy sources. Almost all of the producers use depletable energy sources , such as , fossil fuels,
trees or coal. Since these are limited sources, they will end one day and if nothing is done , the
humankind will end too. To protect the world this, sunlight can be used by the factories and
because sunlight is harmless it protects the environment. Companies burn those depletable
sources to supply energy and these burning reactions emit CO2 into the atmosphere . CO2 gases
corrupt the balance of the atmosphere and which affect all the living included human. However,
direct sunlight also beneficial and gives more energy than the depletable ones. Seitz declare that
sunlight do not harm nature and this source will definitely be the head source because the direct
sunlight will enlighen the world even if the others finished.(2008,p.143).
Second , industries’ or
factories’ wastes can be recovered by using filters or something. The Europe Union is aware of

recovery of all its new autos since 2002.(2008,p.185).
Some claim that for transportation people must use their own cars to have high life
standard because high life standard is the most comfortable way to satisfy the needs. However,
this passion for comfort damages the environment badly. Today most of the cars use fossil fuels
and with the increase in car numbers in the world , release of the harmful gases increases. Those
gases harm nature and it also affect people. In addition , the excessive number of cars especially

engine noises and horn noises make people mad. However , the damages of the transportation can
be decreased by use of new inventions. First , hybrid cars can be used instead of classic cars .
This is because hybrid cars have a spesific engine and with this engine they can use their own
wastes to get energy. With in this way the hybrid cars emit gases less than other ones. According
to Garcia, hybrid vehicle emissions today are getting close to or even lower than the
recommended level set by the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency).(2008,para.5.2).
Second ,
public transportation or car pooling can be an alternative for transportation. With these ways the
car number in traffic can be reduced. It also prevents the traffic jam and time for transportation
decreases. Also emission of the gases is reduced because there are fewer cars.
Many of the people argue that the demand for recreation places increases with the
population and with the high life standards. This demand can be acceptable but people’s
understanding for entertaining is spend time in malls nowadays and because this demand
excessive , parks or other empty places like that destroying by the bussinessmans and building
there malls. Also forests destroying to build up recration places like golf links . But it is not
required for people to entertain these ways because destroying parks or forests harm the
environment. Instead of cutting the trees another alternatives can be considered . First, people can
spend their weekends by going on picnic . In our country there are a lot of beautiful picnic places
. People can go there and rest healthfully . Second, people can be encouraged by government to
do trekking or nature sports .These sports are beneficial for people to spend good time and
become healthy. To encourage, the government can use media advertisements or the other media
tools.
In conclusion , thanks to new technologies and new energy sources , people do not
necessarily harm the environment for their own comfort . People can use products which are
produced by pollution free factories or people can use transportation harmlessly. It is only about
