Is Happiness Real?
“The constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.” – Benjamin Franklin
Is happiness really real? I believe that you will find happiness depending on the way you choose to live your life such as “Is the glass half full or half empty.” There are many different viewpoints are you a religious person or do you just believe that we are living to die? However you look at something will usually be in your outcome, you can’t be a negative person trying to be happy it just doesn’t coincide with each other. “The optimist sees the rose and not its thorns; the pessimist stares at the thorns, oblivious to the rose”- unknown
Therefore, if you choose to be a pessimist you will never be or find the happiness in life. You`ll be too busy trying to point out all the negative aspect of something, and look right past the positive. Unlike the optimist who can look past all the bad in any given situation and still see the sunshine on a rainy day. And for this reason optimist will usually exude happiness with everything they do. On one hand, without the pessimist and optimistic outlooks on life we probably wouldn’t have certain inventions. Such as the parachute for the airplane because the pessimist knew it would be able to crash, or the life jackets for the boats just in case the ship does sink, or the seatbelt for the cars when you do crash. So in this case I guess the pessimist would actually be intelligent enough to look past the invention to see what to do when it goes bad & to create life savers.
The Essay on Happiness Found in Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde
Most heroism deals with promotion of virtue and reproach of vice. Sloughing off from such a hackneyed, yet widely used frame of thought, the novel ‘The Happy Prince’ (1888) by Oscar Wilde connects heroism with compassion. With a subconscious reminiscent between ‘courage’ and ‘hero’, compassion is generally not a primary association with a strong image of a hero. Oscar Wilde however, through ...
“No Christian can be a pessimist, for Christianity is a system of radical optimism.”- Unknown
Religion? Yes, if you have no sense of religion then 9 times out of 10 you probably haven’t found internal happiness. You wouldn’t be thankful enough; you wouldn’t realize what your God has done for you in your life. “Whosoever trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.”- Proverbs 16:20. The Christian outlook is that Jesus died on the cross so that you can be forgiven for your sins, so Christians would be forever thankful for that bringing happiness on their heart. The bible also says to have no fear but the fear of God. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6. And knowing the Lord will never leave you gives you a sense of comfort which leads to happiness.
“Happiness is where the Heart is.”- Unknown
You must follow our heart’s desires. Your heart knows what truly fills you with happiness, people ignore those deeper desires because of their past. So follow your dreams no matter how bizarre or outrageous people told you they were or are. Most millionaires didn’t get rich off of do something there heart wasn’t in; they were just doing their job. As a result most millionaires aren’t happy in their lives, because everybody knows money can’t buy you happiness. People usually put expectations on what they think happiness should be “If only I had more money or If only I was married or If only I had a better job. Then I could be happy.” That’s not happiness at all, follow your dreams and your heart look past the material things, those are false feelings of happiness.
“Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means that you have decided to look beyond the imperfections.”
So is happiness real? I believe that you can find happiness depending on how you look at things& how you live your life. Happiness is all around you, you just have to find it first & realize its staring you right in the face just accept it. Accepting yourself as who you are, is a form of happiness if you can’t find that within yourself then how do you expect to find it in something else .
