Compare and Contrast Romeo and Juliet Movie
Romeo and Juliet both modern and old movie have a lot of differences and similarities based on setting,
major characters, plot, props, and theme. The setting old version of Romeo and Juliet is in Italy,
and the modern version of Romeo and Juliet setting was in California’s Verona Beach and filmed in
Mexico. The Montagues clothing was very different from each movie. In the modern version the way
they look was buzz cuts, pink hair, tattoos, and colorful. And in Shakespeare’s version of Romeo and
Juliet, they wore dark and sober clothes.
As for the Capulet’s the way the look would be describe as vests, tattoos, and mainly dark clothes in the
modern version but in the old version they wore lighter, brighter, clownish and more colorful colors
used like orange. A difference in the movies is the characters; they have a lot of similarities yet a lot of
differences. they also had different races as the characters The characters are much older in
Shakespeare’s version and much wiser, and in the modern
version they are much younger and not as wise and smart. The characters in the old version such as
Juliet is an affluent, amiable, mature yet calm character, and in the modern version she is the same
way but foolish. Another character in the old version is Romeo. He is a sorrowful, brave, emotional,
The Essay on How Is Romeo Juliet Modern
How and why does Baz Luhrman s Romeo and Juliet update the characters and themes for a modern audience The ball scene starts as Romeo Takes an Ecstasy tablet. When Romeo enters the actual ball he goes in with his cousins and he flashes his fake ticket at the bouncer in a very stoned way and the bouncer looks down at him as if to say oh good another stoned person. The ball is full of sexual ...
and ambitious. But in the modern version he is dramatic, confused, secretive, yet VERY determined for
Juliet. They both are foolish to me. The other major characters in the modern version such as Mercutio
was VERY different from the Mercutio in the old version. The Mercutio in the new version was
African American and was a little feminine, but the one in the old version was Caucasian he didn’t
dress as he was female besides the Mercutio in the modern version. Instead he dressed like a male but
yet he still seemed sort of feminine. But in both movies he still was foolish. Another major character in
the movie was Tybalt. In the modern version of Romeo and Juliet Tybalt was the type to wear cowboy
boots, and other tight clothing’s, and was very anxious to kill any Montagues at sight. But in the old
version tybalt wore the dull dark clothes and wasn’t so anxious yet they were just alike and different
with their ways at the same time. The props they had were very different. In shakespeare’s verion the
weapons they used were swords, but in the new version they used guns. Another difference in their
props were the vehicles they used and the candles.
In the old version they used were horses for transportation, and they used torches. And in the new version they used actual cars as their transportation, and they used candles. The plot of the two movies also had a big difference. In the old version they skipped some scenes, nut in the old version they didnt In the modern version of Romeo and Juliet their age was more fitted for them and they looked the the age they are suppose to be in the movie, but in the old version they look as though they have aged. Another part of the plot that was
different was the climax. Romeo and Juliet had met when she was dancing between two men, then she
slightly notices Romeo. Also, their eyes truly meet each other when they are across the circle while the
white male was singing in the old version. But in the modern version they met through a fish tank in
the bathroom. Another difference is when they had first kissed. In the old version they kissed behind a
curtain with candles, but in the new version they kissed in an elevator. The plot still changes as the
The Term Paper on Essay Romeo and Juliet
"The older you are, the wiser you get. " is a well known proverb that provides insight in human tendencies to be impulsive, perfunctory and hasty. Part of maturing as a human being comes from understanding a predicament, deducing a solution and carefully reasoning whether there will be any consequences and if they would be worth it. Impulsive acts flaunt incompetence and immaturity. Albeit ...
movie goes on. In shakespears version romeo had spoke his love for juliet in the blacony, but in the
modern version they spoke it while in the pool.
The way mercutio died in the old version was different. He dies and falls on the church steps, but in the
new version he dies on the beach in romeos arms.A difference in the two movies I notice was when
tybalt died. In the modern version he got shot and
fell into a a pond of water, but in the old version he got stabbed and fell of the stairs and onto the
ground. In the moder version of Romeo and juliet they had a SWAT team, but in shakespears verion
they had the guards as the police. When juliet found out about romeo and paris she decides to make a
plan with friar. A similarity in both versions is when she drinks some poison and after the town found
out she is put in a bed instead of a casket. But in the old verion her body is in a dark tomb and in the
new version she was in a room filled with candle and light. Its different the way romeo gets the poison.
In the new version he gets the poison from a man with a billboard table. And in the old version he buys
it from an apothecary. The end of both movies were made differently when romeo was gonna go see
juliet. In the modern version of romeo and juliet romeo has to hold a man so the police will not shoot
him before he enters the tomb and when he got in there he does not see Tybalt and does not mention
him while in the tomb. But in shakespeares version romeo opens the tomb by slamming a nearby rock
on the doors and when he got in there he sees Tybalt and says something and so they start sword
fighting and romeo kills tybalt. In the new version when romeo sees her dead the poison starts to make
its way to his mouth, but Juliet slightly moves her fingers before she fully awakens and then touches
Romeo’s cheek at the same time he drank the poison. And in the old version Juliet does not move, but
The Essay on Romeo And Juliet Movie Play First
Film Analysis Of Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet, filmed in 1997, directed by Baz Luhrmann. A good production, like many by this director. Camera techniques at the maximum, excellent soundtrack and well cast actors in it's corresponding characters. Like I said a good filming production, even though it's not an outstanding characterisation of the Shakespearean play. For me there are some little ...
In the end, while Juliet does not move, Romeo sees it, but does not understand it, that Juliet is still
alive. but she awakens when the Friar arrives and a few minutes after Romeo drinks the poison. But in
the new version she wakes up just as he drinks the poison. The way juliet died was different and
extreme. In the modern version she shoots herself in the head, but in shakespears version she stabs
herself in the chest with romeos dagger. Both of the movies ended differently. In the new version of
romeo and juliet it ended by the swat team finding romeo and juliet and covering their bodies and
taking them away, but in the old version the guards found them in the tomb and looked at them im
disbelief. The them of both movies are different. The 1996 version theme is Love ain’t easy, Money
corrupts, Violence begets more violence because it wasn’t easy for them to be in love with their
families being enemies, and the money did corrpt the two families, and also the more violence they had
between each other the more violence would keep coming. The 1936 version theme is Love and
density because the love romeo and juliet had became more stronger and stronger. Both Romeo and

else in both movies. Both males of both movies hang out with a group of guy friends. The lovers of
thew movies have to hide their unions. A mutual friend knows about their unionin the movies. Both of

The Essay on Response To Romeo And Juliet Franco Zeffirelli Movie Version
Response Page to Romeo and Juliet (Franco Zeffirelli Version) The version of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Franco Zeffirelli, stays true to most of the original Shakespeare on which the film is based. In some places, though, the director took certain liberties in his deviation of the script from the original play that I personally find too wild. Other things that I disagreed with in Zeffirelli s ...
