Reducing the Behavior of eating unhealthy Food
The target behavior that I would like to change is the amount of unhealthy food such as fried food and french fries that I eat on a daily basis. As a college student, I am presented with a lot of unhealthy food options every day. I resort to the unhealthy food items when offered an option between healthy and unhealthy food. This behavior occurs every day for lunch and dinner at food halls across the campus. Sometimes, I even go outside of the campus to fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, TacoBell, etc. Not only does this cost money which is scarce for a college student, but it is also very unhealthy. Some consequences of this behavior is obesity, and health problems such as diabetes and heart disease. The few positive consequences are protein and carbohydrates associated with fried food; however, they are outweighed by the numerous negative consequences as stated in the previous sentence.
I would like to create a behavior modification program that aims to reduce the amount of fast food consumed. First of all, I plan on trying to minimize the amount of food that is fried. A strategy that I can follow would be to eat some fried foods with a salad or organic food until I get used to the routine. I can follow a more gradual approach to reduce the amount of fried food rather than being immersed into the new behavior quickly. This method of gradual behavioral change will give my body time to adjust to the new behavior. Furthermore, I would like to follow this procedure to the point where vegetables, fruits, and grilled chicken or fish is my primary diet. If this program doesn’t work after a extended period of time, I would like to try aversive therapy. Aversive therapy is where my body and mind would feel very uncomfortable with the behavior because it associated that behavior with a different, often unpleasant, stimulus. In this instance, I would like to associate eating fried food with a very tasteless or unappetizing food item. This would reduce the amount of fried food that I would eat. The hard part with this method is to find a food item that is tasteless and eat it at the same time as fried food. It would be take a extended period of time to associate the tasteless item with fried food which would be very hard to continue.
The Essay on Food intake 3 day
We’ve heard time and time again during our lives how important it is to eat fruits and vegetables or to have a well-balanced diet. We also know how hard it can be to ensure that you are eating enough of the right thing. Are fast food restaurants as bad as people make them seem? How do you know if your diet contains all of the essential vitamins and minerals? The answers to both of these questions ...
In conclusion, I think my strategies will be very effective to reduce my behavior of eating unhealthy food. However, it will be hard to be dedicated to the aversive therapy plan and the gradual change in my diet from fried to organic food. If I am able to follow these strategies for an long time, I believe that my body would become comfortable with eating healthy food and the negative consequences of eating unhealthy food would be minimized. It is my hope that this would create a more positive and healthy life.
