Mary Kay Ash
Mary Kay Ash was a very successful woman. She had a bad experience at her workplace that she got real tired of dealing with. She decided to invest in her own business. Mary Kay’s success as a business woman was a major development in her life-time because she worked her hardest to collect the money, she did it all with a little help from her non-grown son, and the business expanded all over the world and is still popular today.
Mary Kay Ash was born on May 12, 1918, in Hot Wells, Texas. She was raised by her two parents Edward Alexander and Lula Vember Hastings Wagner. Her parents operated a very popular hotel and restaurant. People would travel all the way from Houston, which is over 25 miles, just to visit their business. Mary Kay was married three times and she had three children named Richard, Ben, and Marylyn. All three of her children were for her first husband. Her third husband and her were happily married until his death which took place on June 7, 1980. His death was caused by lung cancer.
Mary Kay graduated in 1934. She attended Reagan High School in Houston, Texas. She went to school in the Houston Independent School District. After 25 years of working in the direct selling business, Mary Kay had resigned her position as a national training director. Another man she had trained was promoted above her and made twice the salary she was making. She didn’t know what to think about the situation, her response was visionary.

Mary Kay decided to quit her job and make her own business. She had a life savings of $15,000, and with the money she brought recipes for special skin softening formulas. She set up a store in Dallas, Texas and a small manufacturing plant. Through hard work, Ash, her son Richard, and her staff members had earned $198,000 in wholesale revenue for the first year. Every year the company had awarded their customers with pink Cadillac’s, five-star vacations, and diamond jewelry. Her company spread over the whole world and is still popular today.
Her career ended when she many pitfalls and got tired of it. When she retired, Mary Kay wrote a guide to help other woman avoid the things she had went through in the male-dominated corporate world.
Her death took place on November 22, 2001. She had died from cancer. Her funeral was held at Park Cities Baptist Church. The sanctuary was pink, and it was beautifully decorated with portraits on her casket. It was a big effect on people’s lives. Her business was still successful and is still worldwide today.
