Review of Oklahoma Baptist University
Oklahoma Baptist University located in Shawnee, Oklahoma, is a baccalaureate liberal arts private institution founded in the year 1910, has 34 major buildings and covers over 200 acres of land. Oklahoma Baptist University ranks No. 3 in the 2010 edition of “Best Regional Colleges” and has been Oklahoma’s highest rated college for 16 continuous years. Having 41 percent male and 59 percent female, students who are eligible may receive financial/ federal aid including Pell Grant or Direct loans. OBU has a student to faculty ratio of 15:1, and 65 percent of its classes have fewer than 20 students. This well-known institution offers 10 bachelor’s degrees in 84 undergraduate areas of study and 2 master’s degrees are offered at OBU’s graduate school. Having 113 active faculty members , all of them are participating Christians in some form of Christianity and they participate in a few of OBU’s memberships which include the National League of Nursing, Society for Research in Child Development, Council for Advancement and Support Education Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges for Teacher Education and many other. OBU medical/nursing graduates have a 90+ acceptance rate in world-wide medical schools. This private institution believes that by studying different subjects through a Christian lens, you can develop strong analytical skills and become adept at adapting to new and diverse situations.

Oklahoma Baptist University is an extravagant place to be, as the primitive theme goes to say “combine faith and learning” in a positive environment that is very complementary, restoring and challenging. This institution is not the type of school where you could just decide to “get by.” You are exerted in every direction to do your absolute best. This school is favored by most students because it is fairly combative, though still in a sense that it is vigorous, nurturing to the idea of good morals and the value of the slogan “Do unto others as you want done unto you”.The staff is absolutely amazing and they literally put their hearts out just so that they will potentially give you the potential to succeed and rise above and beyond so that you could be properly equipped with the needed tools. As a freshman, I do not consider myself to be amongst the most knowledgeable students that could make me feel idiotic because the knowledge of political positions is being conversed. Here at Oklahoma Baptist, awareness to world-wide issues are brought to the attention of students so that a there will be a possible number that will go and try to become a helping hand to sorrowful lives. If anyone speaks negatively of Oklahoma Baptist University, it is in a futile attempt to simply try to give it a bad name because of the lack of the matter that the resources used were not properly utilized.
Admitting that there are just a few positive basics of Oklahoma Baptist University, though of course there are negative sides also. The social lives of some of the students that attend this private institution are not always that good. Nevertheless, this school has at least 110 organizations; they do not always succeed at making people feel as if it is where the student should be because of the different ethnic backgrounds and cultures. Also Oklahoma Baptist University is not diverse school. It is 90 percent Caucasian, 5 percent Africa-American, and 5 percent other. Not every student has the open capability of feeling welcomed. Espescially that of students that are out of state nonetheless from out of country. I performed a survey that included a total of 15 students all of them being either international or out of state. 11 of those 15 students has said that OBU does not do a good job when it comes to the activities. Most of these students said that it would most likely become better for them if they were able to come up with a kind of “sister-hood” or “brother-hood”, or if they were to have some say so in the activities that goes on.
