Teenage Suicide is a major issue in today’s society. More and more teens think that suicide is the way out a way to cure open wounds and fix broken things but what some people don’t realize is that it is a serious issue. In Canada approximately 500 youth between the ages of 15 and 24 years die by suicide each year. Suicide is the intentional taking of one’s own life.
Teenage Suicide has a lot of effects on the society as a whole but t allso has many other aspects to it. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in young people aged 15–24 years in Canada (Skinner and McFaull 2012).
Research has shown that not only depression causes teens to even debate suicide. Some reasons include divorce, new family formation, moving around constantly, emotional neglect, exposure to domestic violence, alcoholism in the home, substance abuse the list could go on forever. social media has changed a lot since you were a teenager things like Tumblr, Instagram and things like that have a major impact on teens life’s. According to the media bistro 61% of teenagers cite tumblr as their favorite site. For the most of it tumblr is teenagers who make blogs and post, reblog, favorite and scroll though photos, quotes among other things. I personally have been told that when i reblog its how I’m feeling but what about the blogs that are full of suicide notes, people cutting and committing suicide ever even contemplate thats how they are feeling? people dont even stop and thing about that and tumblr actually does this really awesome thing that when you type suicide, cutting, depression, sad anything along those lines a sign or a page pops up and its asks if everything is okay it tells you about hotlines you can call anonymous and not, about websites you can visit some advice like filling your blog with positive and supportive things (link in bibliography).
Teen Suicide One Adolescent People
'Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.' ; I feel that it isn't the right solution, that there are other options. This is one reason why I chose teen suicide as my I-search topic. I have had personal experience with teen suicide involving my friends, and the next time that one of my friends comes to me saying, '; I want to die.' ; I want to be able to understand where they are ...
9 out of 10 teenagers use at least one social media site and adults aren’t any better social media, technologies have completely changed how people now a days do things how they think. All these things add to the cause and effect factors of teenage suicide. That is why media plays a huge role in suicides.
Many suicides are committed by people who are depressed. Depression is a mental health disorder. It causes chemical imbalances in the brain, which can lead to the death of some teens who don’t have the support to deal with the pressures of being a teen but also feeling and being alone, not having a stable family life. Not having people you trust not having people you can talk to about personal problems that you might be having. A lot teens think that if they go to teachers they will be judged and if they don’t deal with it themselves they will get called weak, a loser, they can be bullied for it. We leave in constant fear of being judged for every move we make every word we speak and everything we do. Media teens think a curtain way and if you think anything else you will potentially be penalized for it.
Teachers and parents don’t realize what is like to live as teens in the world we live in now. Yes of course we understand that you lived as a teen for just a long as we did. but did you ever realize that times have changed? Life was easier when you were teens yes yo lived with the same things as we do but its different, media wasn’t a huge fact to living life as a teen not the i twas then. being a teen now means you have to look a feel a curtain way. Believe and do things a curtain way. You really can’t be a teenager with out a hundred and one people and different pressures on your back all at one time. Thats where teenagers resort to cutting to relieve the pain for that hour while you watch your wrist, thigh, stomach etc. bleed or you resort to suicide because you think its the answer. Teachers in schools aren’t aware of how this is a huge factor is todays teens. This is the society we grew up in where people post photos of their bleeding wrists on the internet some for attention because thats what people resort to for the of popularity and being known . and there are others who do cut but are more internal about it. They are the teens who are living in the shadow of people who they perceive to be better then them.

Those are the teens who go to school either sad or hide everything behind a smile that they put on. Just over a month ago a Student from Forest Hill commit suicide nobody could understand why because he was cheery always had a smile he supported everyone he picked people up when they fell. But little did people know that behind his smile was a boy who was suffering who lived in the shadows who never told anyone how he felt. That kid was getting bullied and no one stopped it because 1 they weren’t aware and he was probably to scared to talk about it and how he was feeling. we are always taught to tell our parents everything but most teens don’t tell their parents anything due to the pressure. parents aren’t as understanding as people make them out to be.
Teachers, parents, caregivers and the media are always advertising bullying and how people should be more aware of it. But have you ever seen a ad? an announcement? have a teacher talk to you about suicide? cutting? self harm? I didn’t think so. It’s something that people aren’t really aware of and when they are its because they heard someone died on the radio on the way to school they read it in the news paper when they had their morning coffee they hear about it from students that got the update about it. Teachers tell you they are there but when it comes down to it are they? When a student comes to you and tell you they want to end their life. They arent happy with the way they live, they are emotionally unstable, they feel trapped, everything had piled up and its completely unbearable. What do you do sit there are try to talk them out of it, tell other teachers, seek help for them, tell their parents what is that actually doing. Teachers don’t realize that it is 100 times more stress on the teen then it was just to have the courage to tell you.
The Coursework on Building successful parent-teacher partnerships
The problems in the school life can be solved if teachers and parents work together as a team. “The traditional concept of involving parents in the process of educating their children has typically been restricted to one-way communication approaches. Either the parent is talking at the teacher or the teacher is talking to the parent. Yet the real purpose of parental involvement in the educational ...
There is no way to stop suicide it is part of life and it will happen no matter how hard you try to prevent it but making people more aware of the topic. There are more people around you who feel alone but put on a fake smile just to fit in or to make things seem okay around yo right at this very moment then you could ever believe possible because maybe just maybe if you smile and say everything will be okay you might start believing it.
