The Fall
British Conservative Benjamin Disraeli once said, “Fear makes us feel our humanity.” As aggravating as that quote can be, it’s so true. It shows humans that our race is not perfect. We are a faulty species living amongst the world, trying to survive the horrors of the outside domain. We went from being a thriving people with such advanced technology to nothing more than animals living in a cage, ever since they invaded our world. Those things put our race of productive human beings into endangered, terrified cattle. Our minds were clouded with the idea that our race can survive, that our little world is safe, and we will flourish once again in this beautiful yet cruel realm. I’ll admit it, I believed in it when I was younger because the idea of knowing those things living on the planet would of made me paranoid. But, everything changed that one day, giving everyone the true realization, that we are nothing more than animals living within a cage.
I remember that day like it was yesterday, and I really wish I didn’t. When it happened, I was ten years old. I started my day like any other day. I woke up and looked at myself in the mirror. I have dark brown, almost black, hair with deep brown eyes, like my mother. My personality was shy, but I speak my mind in certain situations. As I made my way downstairs, I saw my mother making breakfast. My twin brother, Jeff, set up the table with my oldest brother, George. Even though Jeff is my twin, he is way more open than me, and is not afraid to say what’s on his mind, no matter what anything thinks. George, on the other hand, did not look or act like my twin or I. He has black hair and green eyes, like our father. He is a strong-willed man who works in the military, like my father, but no one can be as strong as my dad.
The Term Paper on Living Between Worlds
The world in which we live is certainly not perfect. For some people, this cruel fact becomes an insurmountable obstacle to any further pursuits in life, with the only acceptable option to quit it all together. Personally, I believe that suicide is rather stupid thing to do. Despite of various misfortunes and inconveniences that we might go through, life is still good and the only thing that one ...
I ate breakfast with my mom, Jeff, and George. But, my father was not there at the time. He was part of our city’s military structure.
There are three different branches of military within our city. The Garrison, the Military Police, and the Survey Corps. The Garrison is the largest division of the military, and they keep order within our walls and, what I knew at the time, any enemies plotting to rebel. The Military Police are for the best of the best from basic training, and they guard the kingdom deeper into our city. George hates them for some reason, I didn’t know why. Lastly, the military division I love the most, the Survey Corps, who are very brave soldiers who leave the city to fight off the enemy, whoever they were. Unlike the other military groups, they wear a green cloak with their insignia on their back. My dad tells me that it represents the “Wings of Freedom.”
Our city also consists of three walls protecting us from what I thought at the time was “foreign terrorism.” Wall Maria, the outermost wall, Wall Rose, the middle wall, and Wall Sina, the innermost wall protecting the kingdom.
Even though every branch has a different task, they all use the same equipment called the 3D Maneuver Gear. It looks like a body harness that takes up most of the body below the neck. It has handgrips to maneuver the grappling hooks it shoots out using a gas powered mechanism. It uses an iron wire propeller with two sets of Snap-on Blades.
My father is part of the Survey Corps, and George is part of the Garrison squadron. My father is someone everyone should look up to because he is the only one who actually leaves our walls and fights the enemies in their territories instead of being stuck within the walls like George.
After breakfast, George had to go to his post for watch of enemies trying to sneak into our city, so Jeff and I helped our mother with chores around the house. Our house was in pretty good shape, so it did not take long. After we had just finished, we heard a knock on the door. My mother opened it, and it was my close friend, Gina.
The Term Paper on World Cities
A world city is a large city that has outstripped its national urban network and has become part of an international global system. They have become powerful nodal points for the multiplicity of linkages, and interconnections that sustain the contemporary world economies, social and political systems. The result is a new world system of cities acting as ‘organising nodes’. In other words, they ...
Gina was about two years younger than Jeff and I, and a little bit shorter. She had long, light brown hair and light brown eyes. She was sort of like me, but was a little bit shyer and seems to sink within the background. Her mom is good friends with my dad because they are both involved with the Survey Corps, along with her brother Jake, and her dad is part of the Military Police. Since most of her family was busy, her grandmother takes care of her. She is a very sweet lady, and she loved my family as much as she loves her. Jeff and I got dressed and we went outside and played some outdoor games. Despite what happened that day, it was a very nice day out. The sun was shining very bright, there weren’t too many clouds out that day, and most of the townspeople were pretty calm and friendly.
While we were playing tag throughout the city, bells started to ring throughout the area. Jeff, Gina, and I became filled with happiness because that signaled the arrival of the Survey Corps from their expedition outside the walls. When we arrived to see the brave men and women return, what we saw shocked us. It looked as if fewer soldiers came home from battle, and most of them had bandages on their body or arms in slings. It seemed prestigious at first, but watching them struggle just to walk through the streets sort of upset my stomach.
As they were going through, I saw my father walking next to Gina’s mother. We ran up to them to hug them since we missed them so much. However, when we approached them, it seems like they were making a hard effort to be happy, especially Gina’s mom.
While this was happening, we heard Gina’s grandma in the crowd, asking where Jake was. She walked up to the commanding officer of the squadron and asked where her grandson was. At that point, Gina’s mother started to cry in front of the squadron and the audience that surrounded them. Gina was confused, and started to worry. The commanding officer pulled out something wrapped in a white cloth, and giving it to the grandmother. She unraveled it, and screamed. It was Jake’s bloodied, dismembered arm. The commanding officer said that it was the only part that he could find of him. The grandmother grew a look of sadness and asked him if her grandson did his part to help humanity. The officer said that they did a good job for the city, and Jake did his part. But, then he looked at me, and I saw through his façade, he was lying through his teeth. He then dropped to his knees, and admitted that the expedition did nothing to help the city, and that it was a complete failure. At this point, Gina was in tears, while Jeff and I were tearing up a little bit as well. I understand what my dad and Gina’s mom go through, and I’m used to hearing about someone dying. I didn’t understand why I was so upset this time. Maybe it was because my brother and I were very close to Jake. But, it bothered me about what that officer said, about how they did not accomplish anything. What have they been doing outside the wall then?
The Essay on George Bush Speech Analysis
George Bush begins the speech with a solemn address and informs the people of America about the tragic events that unfolded. The aim of this speech was to reassure the public that they are now safe and the perpetrators will be brought to justice. The use of inclusive pronouns, such as ‘we’ and ‘our’, is just one of the ways in which he builds a sense of unity and togetherness with the audience. He ...
Later, the Survey Corps left the city for another expedition, so my dad and Gina’s mom left once again. After they left, Gina was still crying loudly, so I did my best to comfort her. Jeff was talking to George about what happened. George was shocked about what had happened, but he realized that it was bound to happen since he was part of the Survey Corps. I also told George about what that commanding officer said, and he sort of ignored it. I just didn’t understand why nobody thinks that what that officer said was wrong.
At that moment, a deafening boom echoed throughout, and an earthquake caused the ground to tremble, making me fall over. When the ground stopped moving, everything was quiet, no one made a sound. The four of us looked over and saw smoke outside Wall Maria, and a giant hand was crushing Wall Maria, and that’s when we saw it.
A giant head rose above the wall, casting a shadow around us. Its face looked like a human’s face, but without skin. Its eyes were different as well; they were black with small, white dots where the pupils should be. It seemed to exhaust steam from its body, causing the rising smoke. George grabbed Jeff and I and told us to get mom, and Gina to grab her grandmother. We didn’t know what to do, until the giant monster kicked straight through the gate of Wall Maria.
A shockwave shot through the city, pushing the four of us away. Debris flew through the air, crushing a few houses and people like pancakes. When it stopped, George used his Maneuver Gear to get on top of a building, and yelled at the three of us to get going. That’s when Jeff, Gina, and I started running to our homes. I didn’t know what was going on at the time, but I didn’t care. I just wanted to make sure that my mother was okay.
The Essay on Analysis of George W. Bush’s 9/11 Speech to Congress
On September 11th, 2001, Islamic terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in New York City, and the Pentagon building in Washington D.C. The terrorists, affiliated with Al Qaeda, were led by Osama bin Laden. On September 20th, nine days after the attack on the country, President George W. Bush addressed Congress with an impromptu State of the Union address. In this oration, Bush uses excessive ...
While we were running, we saw these…things. They looked like giant humans with deformed mouths and facial features. They all varied in size, some smaller than others and some bigger than others. I’ve never seen anything like it, not in the books I’ve read or the stories my mom told me before I went to sleep.
As I was thinking this, I heard someone scream with terror. Jeff and I turned to corner to find our house destroyed, and our mom in the hand of one of those tall creatures. It had a wide and disturbing smile across its face, loving the terror coming from my mom. Without thinking, Jeff charged at the monster, and that’s when our mother screamed at us not to come any closer. She told us to run, she told us to find Gina and her grandmother and head for the gate leading to Wall Rose. Then I heard her say, “I love you.”
Then, at that moment, the thing crunched our mom right in front of us. Blood spewed out of the monster’s mouth, painting a nearby house with red. I was in complete shock, I thought everything was a nightmare, which I was going to wake up from and find that everything was going to be alright. But…it wasn’t, and I realized what the world was really like. It’s beautiful on the outside…but cruel on the inside.
I grabbed Jeff and we headed for Gina’s house, hoping that she made it and saved her grandma. When we arrived, I was completely wrong. Another one of those creatures grabbed Gina’s grandma. This one was shorter than the other one, but it had a look of anger on its face. Jeff was enraged, and wanted to kill that thing, but I had to hold him back. We ran over to Gina, who was hysterically crying. As the monster was about to eat the grandma, George flies in and slashes at the back of the creature’s neck. Blood shot of the nape of its neck, and then falling with a loud boom. Then, he quickly slashed at the thing’s hand, releasing the grandmother, who hugged and thanked George repeatedly.
He landed, and Gina gave her grandma a hug of relief. When George asked about mom, we told him what happened. He punched the wall of a house, causing his knuckles to bleed, and muttering, “Those damn Titans.”
The Essay on Do The Right Thing
The movie Do the Right Thing, a group of people in the district of Brooklyn, have had enough and tensions are growing in this black ghetto area. The only local businesses are a Korean grocery and Sal's Pizzeria. Mookie, Sal's delivery boy, manages to always be at the center of the action. The movie Do the Right Thing is a movie about a neighborhood that suffers from lack of diversity. On a hot ...
Is that what those things are? I thought they were from those Greek Mythology books, that they weren’t real.
I then told him about how mom said to run for Wall Rose’s gate. He helped us get through the gate and onto a boat. As we were leaving, we heard another loud crash, and we saw one of things decimate the last gate of Wall Maria. I looked over to see another strange creature, now called a Titan. It didn’t look like the ones my brother and I saw, and it looked more human. Its skin looked more hardened, and durable, and just like that giant, skinless Titan, steam exerted from its mouth. Then, it just stopped and stared at our boat, flowing away from the nightmare that we saw before us.
When my father and Gina’s mother returned, I told them what has happened, and my father was heartbroken. The love of his life was devoured by those Titan things, and he was out of the wall, trying to help humanity.
“If only I was there, she would still be alive!”
After that day, I found out that those Titans have been around for over a century, and that’s why the walls have been built, for protection against them. Three years after that dreadful day, I enlisted in the military and, like my father, joined the Survey Corps to defeat those horrendous, disgusting Titans on their own land. The losses of both civilians and our military on that day cannot be forgiven. Jeff and Gina thought the same idea, and joined me.
It has been five years since Wall Maria was attacked, and the three of us are on an expedition to defeat those terrible creatures and have humanity rise again. Even though what I have said at the beginning is true, and we have severe trouble living in this world. But, if humanity bands together, and gains the ability to not fear these things, then we can defeat those wretched monsters.
It’s time, for an Attack on Titan.
