A VISIT TO OOTY
A visit to a hill station is highly adventurous and pleasurable. It affords us a complete change from the dull, prosaic and routine life in the busy plains. So, my father decided to arrange a trip to Ooty.
As the bus proceeded in the desired direction, we left behind the dust, pollution and noise of the metropolis and entered a world of beauty and tranquillity. When we finally reached Ooty, the breath-taking grandeur of the mountains cast a spell on us.
There were trees on the slopes, the leaves shone like green glory on the muddy earth and the constantly changing landscape with varying heights and depths presented a fascinating contrast. We made arrangements for our stay and then set out to discover more of that picturesque wonderland.
We first visited the Lamb’s rock, a part of the Nilgiri hills. We enjoyed the glorious view from the stupendous view point from the Dolphin’s Nose view Point 0n this hill. It took us almost the whole day to finish viewing all the wondrous features of Lamb’s Rock. We then retired to bed like a pack of sleepy beasts.
The next day we visited the Madumalai National Park, which is actually a tiger reserve which spreads for about 321 sq. Km. We learnt that there are about 266 species of birds living there including the endangered long billed vulture and the Indian White Rumpled Vulture. All of us took innumerable photographs so that we could recall our visit to ooty for our homes; we were all experiencing a sense of loss. After this we visited many other tourist spots.
