Reflective Essay #2 English 2A/C
It is amazing that my journey through English class for 9th grade is more than half way over. My path so far has been a smooth and enjoyable, with likes and dislikes of what we have done this year. I also know that I will continue to grow and develop my skills as a writer throughout my life.
From the beginning of the year, we have been working on several things that I enjoy to do. After watching movies in English like Pay it Forward, I don’t mind to write a movie review because of how strong the meaning of the movie is and writing more often helps me to get better at my writing skills. The research paper was enjoyable to do because we were given responsibility to do the paper and research by ourselves, the information was not just handed to us. The research paper also gave me a chance to learn more information on some who I barely knew. Lastly, for every unit we have done in English, so far this year, we have done a project to close the unit up. My favorite projects that we have done were the hero vs. villain and the holocaust project. The hero vs. villain project was to be fun and creative while the holocaust project made me look into the holocaust more.
From the beginning of the year I have also had dislikes on two of the things we have done. I do not like having to stand in front of the classroom to talk about a book I have read. I am not a very good public speaker. I guess I should work on my skills as a speaker, but when I sit down and talk t a crowd of people it doesn’t bother me. I also don’t like the pick of books we have had to read so far this year. From Animal Farm, to the Diary of Anne Frank, to Old Man and the Sea, reading these books wasn’t enjoyable. I like to read mystery books or more realistic fiction.

My year of English is only half way through right now, but the things I do in 9th grade English work on skills that I will need for the rest of my life. From writing movie reviews, to researching people, doing projects on topics, and having to be a public speaker. All of these things will stay with me for the rest of my life.
