family involvement Plan Every child needs to be educated in order to grow up and become a healthy member of the society they live in. Usually, they start with Kindergarten and get all their way up to College. Different teachers teach children different subjects which are really important to each child and their later lives. But the most important teachers of all are the parents, mother and father. Not only them, but the family in general are primary teachers to the child. According to Heather Bridge Parental involvement (most commonly mothers involvement) in preschool childrens learning is instrumental in childrens educational success(pg.1).
In other words, in order to get closer to a childs success, the parents need to participate.
According to another author called Mary Ann Manos The No Child Left behind Act (NCLB), signed into federal law in 2002, considers parents full partners in their childs education. Parents can be included in curriculum decision making, serve on related advisory committees, or advice in the selection of supplemental educational services. Parents in other words, are encouraged to take an active role in what and how their children are taught. (p.1) In other words, parents are somehow obliged to support their child through their educational career from the very first moment. Other contributors to a great education of a child can be close relatives and friends or the community.Other associations such as NAEYC, IRA and NCTM are in the agreement each family should be highly involved in their childs education. NAEYC is the opinion that Our nation is at crossroads. We must develop an integrated system of early childhood care and education that includes comprehensive approaches that directly involve families and communities.
The Essay on Effects Of Divorce Children Parents Family
Negative Effects of Divorce on Children Divorce has a strong negative effect on children. The children are brought into the family and then ripped out of what they know is right or of their norms. James M. Henslin defines the family as being two or more people who consider themselves related by blood, marriage, or adoption (445). When married you are instantaneously put into a family. When two ...
Families and communities need to participate in a childs education. IRA believes that your childs vision is important (p.1) In other words, parents need to participate to make their childs vision possible. According to NCTM, Research shows that parents attitudes toward their childrens education, and their involvement in it, have a significant impact on childrens success in school. Basically, if a child is to succeed in mathematical problems, parents need to help them and be there for them. Education is important but the best way to truly work on the education of the child would be starting from Kindergarten or the first grade of elementary school. To ensure a highly effective and successful education means starting from the very first moment a child is capable to learn. Kindergarten children would be learning different things such as the alphabet or even counting numbers. Children love to play with toys or play different games with other children. The best way to make them learn is to play different games that involve the alphabet and numbers.
Parents should as well play with their children the same games and with the same toys that are related to education they play in Kindergarten. According to Educators who developed an approach in the National network of Partnership state that Students learn and grow at home, at school, and in their communities, and that they are influenced and assisted by their families, teachers, principals, and others in the community(p. 2).
In other words, everyone around the child can help the childs education to be successful. Goals and objectives of the family involvement plan. There are many goals that would be achieved with this family involvement plan: First of all, to ensure a successful education to a child would mean high attention and dedication of each parent. It is very important that parents understand the importance of their involvement and participation. This plan stresses out the importance of family involvement as well as their awareness which can be really beneficial for parents.
The Term Paper on Teacher: Early Childhood Education and Family Involvement
... children. •? Think about family involvement as a continuum. Teachers must recognize that families often enter their classrooms with histories of parenting ... into higher education. FAMILY INVOLVEMENT PROCESSES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD Substantial research supports family involvement, and ... A teacher classroom management series • Two-hour weekly small therapy sessions for children • Classroom lesson plans ...
Another goal of the plan is to provide parents with a guide that helps them get through their childs education by providing essential information regarding the education process and what parents can do to help educate their children such as different materials that need to be covered in literacy and/or mathematics. Misunderstandings would be eliminated or at least reduced with the help of this plan. Having a thought on how to educate children and knowing how to do it is extremely different. Parents would profit from this plan because it ensures a high probability of high education. One outcome of this plan would be a workshop that explains in details what specific study in literacy and/ or mathematics needs to be done to help the education process. ImplementationTeachers will have a close eye on each child and focus on each of them in the same way. Being close to children is really important and showing them what to do in the least difficult and most fun way is the best way to educate the child, even though the child might not understand the full meaning of the word education, yet. The chances of success are much higher when teachers can teach children the alphabet or numbers in a way that children would learn from them.
Therefore, teachers need to be educated as well to be able to express themselves in a way children would understand. This all comes to the point on what activities need/ or would be best to be done. Playing games and playing with different toys would be an excellent way to teach children. This would be one way to achieve successful education. Another one would be by playing some learning related music to the children and making them sing/ speak out load. This would improve their learning skills. The best way to teach someone is to make it attractive. Even in colleges, professors try to make the course more attractive as it might actually be. The reason is that children would listen more carefully and enjoy it more when it is about something they are interested in.
Needs of diverse families:No matter how diverse families are, when it comes to the education of their child, they all have the same needs. They all have the same needs and those are: The need to make sure that their child is in a safe environment. To ensure that the environment is learning friendly. The need to be sure of the highly educated teacher who is able to teach in an effective way. To have a skilled teacher who knows how to treat children and how to behave in different situation. A teacher who can motivate the child to learn important material in different ways.
The Term Paper on Cultural Differences in Parent-Child Communication
Today’s children face more diversity than their parents were when they were at the same age. The cultural differences in how the parents deal and communicate with their children around the world are a great challenge. Parent’s involvement in their children’s literacy and communication either in school, home or community will be effective through communication strategies and awareness about ...
Not only do parents need to communicate effectively with their child but as well need to communicate with teachers. They need to communicate in order to find out how the child is progressing, what needs to be done to improve their childs different learning skills, to find out the weaknesses and strengths of the child and where to focus more etc. According to Ms. Lopez Teachers need training and specific skills to build relationships with families and community members. (pg.1).
Knowing this, teachers need to work on strategies that would help to build the relationship between them and the parents. According to Epstein Teachers need to be included in course work of the subject of family involvement issues.
One such place is the school of education at the University of Memphis. Prospective teachers there are required to take a course that covers family involvement issues. (pg.1) In other words, to be familiar with family involvement issues, teachers are provided with a course that teaches them how to overcome the barriers between them and the parents. Different communication strategies would be as follows: Teachers might call the parents for important information or notification regarding the child. Might send out letters/ emails to inform the parents. Organize a monthly based parents meeting where they can discuss about everything. Or even organize a parents meeting with their children to meet other parents and their children as well. This way helps to not only the communication between parents and teacher but as well parents and parents. The children might play with each other in a park or in a different location. This is a perfect way of direct communication between all parents and teachers as well as integrating their children in the process of it.

The needs of diverse familiesParents might have different needs as explained above in the paper. The needs of each parent will be taken into consideration and will be taken care of. Hands-on activitiesThis workshop is divided in two parts: the learning process (theory) and hands-on activities. The first part, the learning process part will focus on the parents and reminding them how important their participation is and what they can do to participate. Whereas the second part would be the hands-on activities where parents can put what they have learned in the first part into action. Family and community resourcesFamily and community will be the biggest resources available for the workshop.

Give us your opinion, critique. __________________________________________________ ___________________ Workshop Follow-upThe parents involvement plan is structured to help parents with their goals and objectives, which is primarily the childs education. If parents want to be involved, they should perform different activities at home. Those activities are mostly concerned with playing with the child different games with different toys. But as mentioned above, those games are educational. In order to complete the activity, different materials and supplies are needed.
First of all, the books, literacy and mathematics books that are designed for early learning should be purchased. No specific books are required. Different pens and pencils are required, so children will be able to write and draw. Finally, the different games need to be learned. Parents could evaluate the success of their participation by continuing to participate. In this way, they spend time with their child and they can see it by themselves if the involvement plan has worked out for them or not. By participating, parents will be reading and learning numbers with the child and by doing so, they will find out if it worked or not.
The Essay on Parenting Children with Severe Difficulties
Becoming a parent needs some planning and preparation—mentally, socially and financially. Depending on various circumstances, parents may not be completely prepared when they have children. Still, having a child with severe disabilities could be shocking for some parents. In such cases, the child will need special care and attention from the parents, as well as from medical practitioners such as ...
Parents could see the differences of the child if there is an improvement or not. There are some questions that parents could ask themselves such as is the child improving? Are the learning skills improving such as mathematics? Or if parents are still not sure about it, they could talk to the teacher or other parents. But if they spend time with their child, they will for sure find out about their childs performance. Post-workshop As a close up of this research paper, there are several things that need to be mentioned. First of all, the parent involvement plan did work out in many ways. It brought the parents and the child closer together. Parents should invest a great amount of their time in their childs education.
There is one thing that needs to be worked on which is the performance of the teacher. Because of the high number of children in the class room, it is almost impossible to focus on all the children and their parents all the time. To strengthen this weakness of the workshop, a minimum of two assistants is required. Most parents were quite satisfied with the family involvement plan. There were some who didnt participate at the workshop because they didnt show up. The once who showed up participated adequately.
They could have participated more but other workshops are necessary to really get better results. What was learned in the workshop This research clearly showed that there is a need for parents and teachers to work together to achieve maximum potential in a childs education. Both, the teacher as well as the parent need to take time together and understand that the child needs both of them. The teacher is able to teach a child but a child also needs his/her parent to be there at any time possible. The workshop overall was structured well but it was foreseen that problems with parents would occur. Parents did take it seriously, or at least some of them did.
Some of them didnt show up which was disrespectful but there was nothing to do about it. Nobody can force the parents to show up. The interaction between the present parents with their child was pretty intense which showed that there are still parents who care about their child and their education. This is always good to see. But to persuade all parents that the childs education should be their primary concern, other workshops have to be organized. Bibliography 1. Bridge, H.
