I need a biography of the 1994 Nobel prize winner in economics. (John Nash) Statistically, it would seem improbable that any mathematician or scientist, at the age of 66, would be able through continued research efforts, to add much to his or her previous achievements. However I am still making the effort and it is conceivable that with the gap period of about 25 years of partially deluded thinking providing a sort of vacation, my situation may be atypical. Thus, I have hopes of being able to achieve something of value through my current studies or with any new ideas that come in the future. John Nash Jr, during the Nobel Price Ceremony. John Nash, was born in 1928 to a Texas family of the WWI veteran.
His father was an engineer, soldier and a teacher. It is for this reason Johns family had a large library where a little boy would spend a great amount of time, oftentimes at the expense of playing with his friends. His desire to read something made him rather asocial: John would prefer reading books to playing with his friends. At the age of only thirteen, he started to do a lot of experiments at home rather than attending boring school and when he was fifteen, his great interest in mathematics started to overcome him (Kinney, 89).
In 1942 John was accepted to Carnegie Tech, Pittsburgh where he planned to major in chemical engineering. Later on he changed his major to chemistry and only then to mathematics.

He obtained his bachelors degree in Math in 1948 and immediately entered Princeton to obtain his graduate studies (Kinney, 93).
I should note that in his letter of recommendation Nash received from his Tech professor at Carnegie there were only three words: “This man is a genius” (Richardson, 23).
In Princeton he was interested in economics statistics and game theories and contributed much of his time to studying von Neumann and Morgenstern. Already in 1949 he presented a paper that got recognition only over 45 years later that gained him Nobel Prize in economics. In 1950, Nash successfully completed his Doctors degree presenting a thesis Non-Cooperative games which he also called Nash Equilibrium, a 27-page dissertation. He followed this up with a paper which introduced yet another solution concept – this time for two-person cooperative games – the “Nash Bargaining Solution” (NBS) in 1950 (Kinney, 94).
In 1951 he presented another research paper Nash Programme that spoke about the cooperative games in a non-cooperative settings. After obtaining his doctorate, John Nash managed to work at the MIT till the early 1960 (Richardson, 25).
While studying at MIT, John Nash started to take some interest in social life and even had a girlfriend by the name Eleanor Stier. After unprotected sex encounters Eleanor got pregnant. John Nash got rather upset about such fact, and did not want to keep either the girl or the baby. As a result, they separated, while Eleanor Stier raised John David Stier, a son of John Nash on her own. I would like to note that during the mid-1950s, Nash was even arrested in a police trap for homosexuals.
As a matter of fact he was never found guilty of anything yet was dismissed from the work (RAND) which he treasured (Kinney, 97).
During his following years teaching at MIT, John Nash took interest in the young female students, with Alicia Larde becoming rather close to him. In the 1950s it was shocking for teachers to have any intimate relationships with their students, yet Nash never cared about such prejudice and continued to see Alicia regularly (Richardson, 28).
In 1957, Nash started to feel more responsible and got married to Alicia, who already was pregnant during the marriage. In the late 50s, Nash mental state got even worse and he got struck by paranoid schizophrenia. He was kicked out of MIT and had to spend over 2 months at the medical institution McLean Hospital (Kinney, 96).

Nash was devastated by his disease for the two decades that contributed to the divorce with Alicia, although they kept in touch with each other for a long period of time. John Nash would then travel to Europe and around the USA trying to find something yet after about three years he returned to Princeton, where he spend a great amount of time in Math department and the student library. He gained a nickname of Phantom of Fine Hall. He remained in Princeton until his Nobel Prize nomination and victory.
