Having an influence on a child as they mature can be very productive for both the child and the parent as portrayed in the Shadow of Wind. What defines a Good Parent? By definition it is someone who gives birth to offspring. However, there is so much more. Parenting consists of many elements such as Love, Attention, Support, Guidance, and Discipline.
Love is the most important and most powerful emotion; consisting of both heart and mind. Emotion is a state being, often accompanied by physical reaction.
A deep affection for a child must exist. Affection is part of the love. Devotion to the child, which is love given without question. No strings attached for the love the child needs to achieve full potential. A fondness for a child is part of the loving a child; taking pleasure in being a Parent. A Good Parent.
Giving the child all the attention it needs for the development of their mind and body. Nursing the child to grow up healthy; nurturing to their every need to make them feel safe and gaining their trust. This will make the child know that they will not get hurt. Also, to look out for the child’s best interest, knowing that the child is always is taking care of.
Parenting is also about giving proper guidance; guiding them in the right direction. Help lead a child to choose the correct action, the proper way to conduct themselves.
The poem, Little Boy Crying, written by Mervyn Morris is mainly about father and sons relationship. Poet shows the two main themes through this relationship; fathers love towards his child and his effort to lead his child into a right world in life. Mervyn Morris explores the child and parents relationship by using second person narration and language techniques such as allusion and emotive words. ...
Supporting a child mentally is essential for a parent. Helping the child strengthens mind and body. Fulfilling the needs of a child is a key ingredient for gaining the trust one needs to be a good parent. The parent needs to be patient, tolerating the learning of the child, actively in favor of whom the child wants to be.
Discipline is the tool in which a parent sets forth rule for the child to obey, training the child mentally. Enforcing the rules for the child, when the child breaks the rules there is a punishment. Discipline also builds the character they will have throughout life.
Good parenting is imperative to the individual child and to society as a whole. A very well known saying states “it takes a village to raise a child.” Though food, clothing and shelter are essential, there are many other things that children also need to grow. Children need to interact socially; having other people involved in a child’s life is essential. Another important thing to include in a child’s life is values. A child must learn from a young age what is right and what is wrong.
Children who do not have social interactions at a young age are often closed off to others as an adult or teen. Many do not know how to speak or interact with others so they are scared and awkward in public settings. Children who grow up surrounded by people who care for them are more likely to be well adjusted. This is also how children develop their own personalities.
Values are defined as the accepted principles or standards of a person or a group. Normally children grow up learning and following their parent’s values. As they get older they make a choice on what they believe and what they do not. Without values one cannot tell what is right and what is wrong for themselves. Values also help shape one’s individually. A person’s beliefs help to shape them into the person they are.
A good parent teaches their child and helps them to grow. Through friends and family and the values surrounding them as they grow, they develop who they will be as a person, as portrayed by Daniel and his father and Daniels’ outcome at the end of the book. Good parenting is important to society because the child that is raised today is tomorrow’s future. Every person affects what society will be like. After being taught good values and the know how to interact with others most children will grow up to be a positive person who is well adjusted.
Overall wellbeing, an extravagant lifestyle, and wealth all come to mind when I ponder the good life but what does the good life actually cost? At first glance, this seems like a loaded question that requires multiple dissertations in order to answer. I even contemplated whether or not the good life had a cost at all. Breaking the good life into separate topics relieves much of the stress when it ...
