JUST DO IT: A Research Paper On Performance Enhancing Drugs
This paper intends to discuss about the argument if whether or not athletes of the high school, collegiate, and professional level should or should not be allowed to take part in the use of performance enhancing substances. Performance enhancers have created the potential for athletes to excel beyond the limits of their normal strengths. From the weight room where their training is crucial in every lift and repetition they take, to how they perform and excel on the field during competition. Through their speed, agility, strength hand- eye coordination, and other abilities athletes showcase their skills throughout the nation and world. If injured these substances help athletes recovery faster, in order to return to there daily, monthly, and yearly, on and off season routines. Giving them the edge over any and all other athletes they contend or compete against while in competition. Also there isn’t just one performance enhancer, “Performance enhancing drugs consist of a variety of substances” (WADA Paragraph 1).
Steroids, Amphetamines, Caffeine, Creatine, Asthma medications, and the new discovery of Deer Velvet, are all ways athletes have been introduced to perform at a higher level, leading them to become bigger, faster, and stronger. In the past years, athletes’ have been randomly drug tested to see whether or not they have taken part in the use of performance enhancers. This issue is one stress all athletes should not have to worry about. A saying used often in sports is that athletes push themselves through the blood, sweat, and tears of the sport they compete in to become the best they possibly can be. Athletes should be allowed to use performance-enhancing substances because it should be the athlete’s choice of what to do with his or her own body. As well with the option to use performance enhancers’ athletes can have the opportunity to excel and reach the peak of their potential.
The Term Paper on Individual Performance Commitment And Review Form For Teachers
Link their individual achievements and make a meaningful contribution to the attainment of the institution’s Vision and Mission. Promote individual and team growth, participation and commitment. Grow professionally and personally. In line with this Philosophy, DepEd implements a Results-Based Performance Management System. It is a shared undertaking between the superior and the employee that ...
When the topic of performance enhancers is brought up the first thing that comes into the minds of people is Steroids. Steroids are an “ Organic compound that contains a specific arrangement of four Cycloalkane rings that are joined to each other… the core is composed of 17carbon atoms bonded together. That take the form of four fused rings: 3 cyclohexane rings and 1 cyclopentane ring” (Moss Paragraph 1).
This enhancer can be supplied to athletes in two different forms. One designed as a pill for oral consumption, and another in a liquid form designed to be used for ejection. By taking either one that is chosen the benefits are great especially for those athletes who take part in long seasons that demand high intensity training and a high demand in athletic performance on the field. What steroids can do for an athlete is a number of things. They can increase the speed of their muscle growth, this can help an athlete during their on and off season training as this would lead to an increase and effectiveness in more high endurance training in Olympic and stationary lifts. An increase in muscle repair, this is a much needed advantage for athletes who take a lot of wear and tear on their body from long and high strung season much seen today in the sports of football, and baseball. By being able to repair muscles at a faster rate athletes perhaps who are on the disable list and are in recuperation can have a faster more solid rehab session and return to the field of play at a much quicker rate. Athletes as well who choose to use this substance can perform and compete at a higher level as this is crucial when wanting to help your team make it to the post season and for those who are professional athletes be able to receive a potential increase in pay from their general managers.
should high school student work part-time?
Nowadays, there are more and more students work part-time job in their free time. Actually, a part-time job can provide money and working experience to them. But it partly disturbs their study as well. So the high school students should not be encouraged to have a part-time job because of the following reasons. Firstly, most high school students are too young to work. Specifically, they still lack ...
And for all athletes nobody is every satisfied being just as good as an opponent or teammate. Athletes’ in general have a natural strive to become the best in their sport or position so if allowed to take part in the use of performance enhancers such as steroids, athletes have the chance to reach the peak of their physical athletic abilities. Also with athletes being able to use steroids competition in general would be at a higher level and the passion for the game could become stronger for those from an athlete and spectator point of view. Athletes should be able to use this performance enhancer as it is their own personal choice and can give them the chance to reach a peak of their abilities. But as stated earlier there is more then just steroids as a way for athletes to enhance their performance. Amphetamines and caffeine are another way used by today’s athletes’.
A more common use and much easier one for those athletes at the collegiate and high school level to use today are stimulants, such as amphetamines and caffeine. These can “ improve reaction time and make you more alert and confident” (wise geek 1).
Stimulants can be found and accessible in a multiple of ways, they can be found at “GNC” a world wide nutrition store much athletes at the lower level have access to through the sport supplements of “ NaNo –Vapor and N.O. explode” (GNC Paragraph 3).
These two supplements are used as pre weightlifting or athletic competition drinks that enhance the amount of red blood cells and energy in an athletes body (GNC Paragraph 3).
This, leading to either better and stronger lifts, or a possible better performance on the field as the athlete is more alert of situations occurring around them. But stimulants are not just found in the form of sport supplements, they can be even purchased at the local market or grocery store in the form of energy drinks. Rockstar, Monster, 5 Hour energy, are just a few of the energy drinks that have been found to have large amounts of Caffeine leading to athletes using them as a way to be more awake and prepared for a day. “ I like to have a Monster around the middle of my day to be ready for the big part of the day which is practice or a game” says, Billy Linney an Outfielder for the Skyline College baseball team. Baseball players in general are said to use chewing tobacco as a form of stimulant while competing or practicing. Some players feel that it helps them be more alert perhaps from the nicotine found in tobacco, and others think it helps them relax, as baseball is a game of great hand eye coordination. So being able to stay relaxed can help them focus on the key parts needed to excel in the game said to be America’s pastime. Athletes should be permitted to take part in the use of stimulants as this is a way they can be more focused, awake, and alert, when in the field of play, or perhaps while in the middle of their high intensity training regiments in order to have more productive and successful lifting session to receive better results in the weight room and in competition. Another performance enhancer used today by athletes and much like stimulants more common due to access and price is creatine another substance to help the body perform at a higher level.
The Essay on Performance Review Managers Reviews Training
1. List and describe 4-6 common problems that occur when managers complete performance review. A. No proper procedure during a performance review: When the employee was asked to conduct a performance review by the manager, the manager did not instructed the proper need to follow through during the performance review. B. Miss communication: The manager and the employee miss the perception of ...
Creatine is a substance “ created in the body and transported to muscle tissue” (Medical Review Board Paragraph 1).
Along with naturally being created in the body creatine is accessible in the form of powder, which is put in drinks to be consumed as a fluid or a more common use in the form of a pill for oral consumption. Athletes use this performance enhancer, as a fuel while in the middle of high intensity training exercises. Creatine can give an athlete fuel for short bouts of intense energy production to meet the demands of their year round training exercises (Medical Review Board Paragraph 2).
As well this substance gives athletes who choose to use this performance enhancer the ability to repeat high intensity repetitions while in training. Much like steroids in a sense of how used, creatine is like steroids in the manner of being used in cycles or time periods. So say an athlete takes a cycle of creatine for a period of about two months. When the cycle was complete and the athlete could see a change in results of their exercises and figure, the athlete would then wait a time period of one month without the substance, until the creatine from the previous cycle has completely flushed through the body. Then after that time period perhaps if happy with the previous results would begin a new cycle. Athletes never want to take two cycles back to back without a break as this could actually become a double edged sword and instead of increasing even more in strength would actually find to have a decrease in strength. Or find themselves in the scenario of completely wiping out their previous ranges of flexibility due to too much muscle mass. Creatine has another similarity with steroids as today at the collegiate and professional levels random drug test are used prohibiting the use of this performance enhancer. Again this goes back to the topic that testing is an unneeded stress for athletes. Leading to the main idea that athletes should have the option of what they wish to use or not to use when it comes to performance enhancers as it is important for them to be able to reach the peak of there potential to become the best athlete they can become without having to worry about who is coming to check them or test them. The next form of performance enhancer used by some of today’s athletes that is not as popular but is making a steady rise in the subject of performance enhancing use is Asthma medication such as inhalers.
The Research paper on Manage People Performance
Why is it necessary to consult relevant groups and individuals about the work to be allocated and the resources they will need? Because it is essential that the correct resources are put into place in order to operate successfully. It’s important to find the best methods of distribution, disbursement, and management of resources. It’s also important to track the resources to determine ...
A much more uncommon performance enhancer that is beginning to gain a reputation by being called a potential performance enhancer is the use of Asthma medication such as inhalers. People stir up the question of how an inhaler a device used by people who have the respiratory issue of breathing or a strong cough would be a benefit to athletes? Especially if they do not have the symptoms of asthma patients? The answer is actually very simple in a sense. The main reason asthmatic patients use inhalers is for the simple fact to expand their lungs in order to breathe better. So when to refer to how athletes use this substance as a way to perform better there are a multiple of answers, let’s begin with the weight room. While athletes are in the middle of endurance plyometric training which is training working your fast twitch muscles, this means an athlete is working at high intense levels of power making his or her heart pump at extremely fast rates leading to much less oxygen flow. An athlete can use a couple pumps of an inhaler to expand their lungs in order to receive better air flow while training leading to the abilities to perform at the high rate required to see the best results of the plyometric training. Now onto the field say for example in baseball a base runner on first base runs from their to home meaning running around all of the bases and as soon as they get to the dugout the final out of the inning was made still short on breathe the player may use an inhaler (remember this athlete for this example does not have asthma) to expand his lungs to catch his breathe and sprints onto the field ready to react to the hardest ball hit possible at him or in the area of his position. “ Melvin Stewart, 1992 Olympic Gold medal swimmer, noticed it at the starting block of the U.S. national championship. A competitor grabbed an inhaler hidden inside a towel and “ sucked hard” just before the race” (Almond Paragraph 5).
The Term Paper on Competitive Teams For Young Soccer Players Are Increasing In Popularity
Competitive teams for young soccer players are increasing in popularity and attracting greater participation. As the number and variety of teams flourish, it becomes increasingly urgent for parents to investigate the suitability of the different programs for their children. Parents have the right and the responsibility to ask questions before allowing their child to participate on a competitive ...
Further in the article it was said to be seen by multiple other swimmers doing the same thing and showing no signs of having asthma, this enhancer just being a simple inhaler lets athletes have the capability to breathe at a full amount giving them more endurance. Athletes should be able to use this performance enhancer because of how they are capable to breathe better giving them the capability to breathe better being able to focus on the more important things such as their lifts in the weight room or performance on the field. The final topic of performance enhancers that is a brand new discovery to the United States is the use of Deer velvet.
Now when the topic of Deer Velvet was brought up to be used in the NFL by players of the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens, people began to make the same statements such as In regard to steroids and the other “prohibited” performance enhancers that these players where cheating. This is incorrect these players when it comes to performance enhancers chose to take part in the most ethical and best choice of all the performance enhancer choices. “ Deer velvet has no studies that prove it is an unhealthy choice of intake for athletes” (Brown Paragraph 8) deer velvet has been said and seen to enhance an athlete’s performance, strength, and endurance. So why not take this substance if no health effects have been shown and an athlete is able to get the results he or she has been looking for then it should be perfectly legal like all other performance enhancers to be used by the athletes of today. The discovery of deer velvet came from “ Russian Olympic athletes in the early 90’s” (Brown Paragraph 1).
The Essay on Le Ballet Comique de La Reine
Le Ballet Comique de la Reine is considered to be the first ballet by most dance historians. This ballet took place in Paris, France in 1581. This special ballet was produced by Catherine d`Medici, and Balthazar de Beaujoyeaulx was responsible for the choreography. The dancers in this weren’t professionals by any means, just simply members of the court that were trained in the Renaissance Dance ...
And still is used by these athletes today. Athletes should not be disciplined and should be permitted to use this substance as this helps athletes train and perform at a higher level leading to the athlete becoming more successful in his or her career. As well with the use of this enhancer and it being a much healthier alternative this option can help athletes not worry of any negative side effects that could possibly happen to them by taking part in the use of Deer Velvet.
Now this paper has stated all the pros of the use of performance enhancing drugs in sports and how athletes should be allowed to use these substances but yet others disagree. People say the use of performance enhancers tarnishes the name of the player and sport they compete in. When it comes to steroids people who support the cons of steroids bring up the topics of how steroids can lead to potential muscle cramps if not properly hydrated, mood swings, aggressiveness known as “ roid rage”, potential injuries actually becoming worse later in a lifetime, the shrinkage of testicle, acne on the face and back, and a increased chance of an earlier death. But again if a player / athlete is willing to make these sacrifices in the long-term for the short term benefits to compete and perform at the peak of their potential shouldn’t it be their choice of what they can do to their body? With stimulants, supporters of the list of cons say that these enhancers increase chances of fatigue after the spurts of energy the athlete was searching for, a decrease in appetite, addiction to always needing the extra spark in everyday things instead of just the athletic times and moments when required, irritability increase, depression, and aggression.
But yet again if an athlete is searching for the edge to have that “ eye of the tiger” mentality while training or competing it should be their choice if they wish to take part in the use of these substances or not. As for the cons of creatine, asthma medication, and deer velvet, with these three topics no tests have either been taken or proven to show negative effects health wise for athletes yet athletic communities who are against the use of performance enhancing drugs frown two of the three upon. So if there are no negative effects on the body while using these substances there are no reasons for any of these to be prohibited by athletic organizations. From a coaches point of view athletic coaches either a head, assistant, position, or weight training coach all want to have nothing but the best 5-11 players depending on their sport to put on the field or court. From recruiting the best to their school to coaching the best all coaches preach to be perfect and excel for nothing less than perfection so why not let athletes use performance enhancing substances? By allowing this, athletes can all be at the peak of their potential being able to give the best they possibly can and always have their “motor” running ready for even the most unexpected events while in competition. In a Nike commercial that was eventually posted on Youtube.com Narrator John Doman describes how he sees sports in today world:
The theory of evolution claims only the strong shall survive… but the theory of competition says just because there the strong doesn’t mean they can’t get their asses kicked… the other guy may in fact be the favorite the odds may be stacked against you… no matter what the stats say or the experts think. Don’t be surprised if someone takes a pass on yelling uncle, and as the old saying goes. We got ourselves a game.
This quote says it the best if athletes are permitted to use performance enhancing substances the passion and drive they have to be the best can be made true and all competitions will be more of draw to today spectators as they would be capable to reach the peak of their physical capabilities as athletes. Leading to be able to play at a higher level.
In conclusion all athletes should be allowed to use performance-enhancing substances because it is their own body and he or she should be allowed to make the choice of what they wish to do with it. And by being able to use these performance enhancers athletes can have the ability to reach the peak of their physical potential as an athlete. I recommend that all professional, collegiate, and high school levels permit the use of performance enhancers, as by doing this more athletes can grow and reach their peaks of potential at earlier ages leading to be able to become better athletes as they progress their way up in the ranks.
