PIRATES OF SILICON VALLEY
I. Introduction
Computers are what give colors to our lives right now. Without it, we are nothing but dust in the wind. Have you ever wondered where it came from or who are the persons behind the gadgets you are using right now? Also wondered, how did they get into it? There are many questions that answered by this movie.
II. Summary
The first scene shows that Steve Jobs (Noah Wyle) was completely different from Steve Wozniak (Joey Slotnick), the narrator and comrade of Jobs. It also shows what motivated them to be what they are now. Later on, as the movie gets crucial, Steve Wozniak compared Bill Gates to the Evil Big Brother who ran everything based on the 1984 book, “Fire in the Valley” by Paul Freiberger and Michael Swaine, which shows the rebellion of the downtrodden masses with that of EBG’s leadership. Also because of that, they met Captain Crunch, a native in Berkeley. Crunch discovered that the little whistle you could find on the box of Cap’n Crunch cereal had the same tones of AT&T’s long distance equipment, which can beat the system and could be use to make long-distance phone calls all over the world for free through the use of their invention “Blue box”. They even tested it out by calling the pope. Since then, they began discovering new devices that can ease their lives.
Their first try to build a computer was too unfortunate that it caught fire and all they can do is to laugh and laugh. It was published on a newspaper by Mercury News, a news-casting network at those times. The next following scenes showed how Bill Gates and Paul Allen (Josh Hopkins) got the MITS Altair machine, one of the rare machines ever invented. There is a part where Steve Jobs underwent an Anger Management Therapy. Because of the latter, Jobs and Wozniak became so determined that they succeeded in building the first personal computer (PC).
The Term Paper on Lessons To Learn From Steve Jobs
A man of the stature of Steve Jobs needs no introduction. Steve Jobs, undoubtedly, was one of the greatest entrepreneurs and a great visionary of the 20th century. Steve Jobs revolutionized the computer industry by democratizing the technology and making the computers smaller, cheaper, intuitive and accessible to everyday consumers. In 1976, at the age of 21, Jobs founded Apple Computers with ...
Even though, the banks they want where they want to loan does not want to give them a chance because of their physical perception and so they began changing themselves into a good-looking one. With the help of Wozniak, Dan and Elizabeth, they started making Apple Computers. They grew even larger also with the help of Mike Markula, an agent of Intel Corp. Several years later, Jobs invented the graphics and the operating system but Gates stole it. Gates did this through inside job.
He worked for Apple Computers and later on, he fooled Jobs just to get the OS and named it as Windows OS to compete with the Macintosh OS. That’s the start of their rivalry. This OS brought Gates to be “The Richest Man on Earth”. Later, Jobs became distracted and partially turning into a beast-like monster because of his attitude. When they have recovered, Jobs searched for Arlene, his girlfriend and saw Lisa, their daughter, which he named the Lisa Computer. Back then, he’s not ready to accept the responsibility of being a father because of his career. At San Francis Hotel of San Francisco, California, Steve Jobs celebrated his birthday. Three months later, Jobs was fired by John Sculley. At the last scene, Steve Wozniak teaches the schoolchildren on how to use computers and he even funds a ballet. While Steve Jobs now lives with his new family and daughter Liza. On 1997, Jobs returned to Apple and worked together with Microsoft, which is headed by Gates. That’s the end of the story.
III. Conclusion
If Steve Jobs didn’t let Bill Gates to be one of his employees, maybe Bill is not on where he is now. I guess, Steve Jobs would never find his daughter Liza and would be the wealthiest man on Earth. I can conclude that Bill Gates would do everything just to get what he wants regardless of the possible problems it could form and also regardless of the feelings of others. That’s why I can call him as self-centered man.
