The story mostly takes place at the House of Dies Drear. The house was in Ohio. The house is an old slave hideout when they were on the run away from slavery. It has a lot of hidden rooms and passage ways.
It has tunnels underground connected to the house. It has three floors and is gray. Plot In the beginning Thomas doesn’t want to move, but is excited about the big house. When Thomas wakes up he is in his dads car. Then awhile later they arrive at the house with his dad, mom, and his twin baby brothers.
Thomas is amazed at the size of the house. His dad told him about Dies Drear and the legend and some believe it is haunted. In the middle Thomas starts to find passage ways in the house. He goes down a tunnel and hears a weird noise. He starts running and thinks its chasing him. Later he finds triangles in the bedrooms.
In the end Thomas finds a rope and pulls it and when he did a wall moved and a secret room appeared. Then Thomas saw his dad sitting at a desk. His dad now had a cold from helping Mr. Pluto so much. They were thinking about making it into a museum. Then they found a big black treasure chest, but they wouldn’t open it because they wanted to keep it a mystery..
