University: Lecturer: Course: Date: Procedures for increasing productivity in research Abstract A researcher needs to maintain a balance between research and other aspects of his life. With a networking ability the researcher can socialize with other researchers from the same field. A careful selection of the research topic guides the rest of the procedures. All the procedures depend on each other and therefore each of then should be well performed. Networking is one of the most important aspects of research.
It allows for socialization and most importantly sharing of ideas. Productivity can be improved through automatic eloquence and fluency in language. It requires hard work and a significant dependence on cognitive strategies (American Accounting Association 2008).
Selection of a research topic and Definition of research question A specific topic should be selected from a broad field of potential topics. The advice from an authority more conversant with the topics may help in this selection process. From the research topic, the researcher should formulate appropriate research question.
The Review on Good Research Topic
Many at times choosing an appropriate topic seem like a herculean task as a lot of problem areas may come to mind at the time of choosing the topic. What is more frustrating is being able to settle on a brilliant topic. Choosing the research topic is one of the most critical steps in conducting a successful by all standards. The truth is, the search for a good research topic is a daunting task, ...
The research question becomes the centre of focus of the research. Key words should be selected with a list of acronyms and alternative narrow, broader and related terms. (Ken and Barbara, 2008) Information Requirements and Selection of Research tools The research questions serve as guiding tools to the right information. A researcher should read widely on the topic under research and consult a variety of information sources in different formats: paper-based, audio-visual and electronic. The major research tools to choose include online catalogues, online databases, government depository resources and other relevant reference sources. Researchers should seek assistance from reference librarians to find suitable reference for research (Ken and Barbara, 2008) Literature review Literature review assists the researcher to identify relevant ideas to improve the research. It is a way of avoiding duplication of work.
It ensures that the researcher identifies knowledge gaps and subsequently works towards filling them. The researcher will be able to know other researchers in the same field whom he can closely associate with. Ultimately, the literature review will widen the researchers knowledge on that particular field of interest (Deakin University Library, 2009).
Conclusion For a researcher to deliver a productive research, he or she needs to strike a balance between the research and other aspects of in life. It starts with a good selection of the research topic to give rise to appropriate research questions. With a careful selection of information material and appropriate research tools, the researcher will be able to effectively carry out a good literature review and attain a unique, useful research program.
