There are several reasons and causes why students may drop out of school. The first cause being that many students are not school driven because they may have distractions outside of school such as financial and personal problems. I know from experience that it’s not always easy to stay focused in school if you’re stressed about wondering how you’re going to pay the bills, or if you’re in an argument with a spouse or family member. Another cause is students may drop out is if an unplanned pregnancy happens, it may not always be unplanned but if you’re trying to finish school you most likely weren’t expecting it. After being so many months into a pregnancy girls may start to feel very overwhelmed; they may get morning sickness often, it might get hard walking class to class with another human being inside of them, and once it gets closer to their due date they start to focus more on their baby and his or her needs rather than their own.
Lastly, and I think this is one of the biggest causes; is students start getting into drugs. Whether it is from peer pressure or just wanting to experience it for themselves, students who continue to keep using drugs start focusing less on their school work. It usually starts with just skipping classes and then skipping a full day to then not just going to school at all anymore. It’s a shame this is how a lot of society is now days, and until students realize school is more important than anything they will continue to drop out.
