Life Goals Essay
Ever since I was a child I could lose myself to video games. I would often feel like I was a part of the reality just on the other side of the glass. I would always find myself fascinated by the creations and designs that came from the sci-fi games I played. I could play for hours on end because I felt like I was part of the universe, much like how people can become part of the stories within books or TV shows. But unlike a book or a TV show, I knew I was in control. I knew I could do anything with virtually no limitations. I could go where I wanted to go, see what I wanted to see, and do what I wanted to do. I loved to play video games because every time I put the controller in my hands, I knew that I could do something great.
As I grew older, my goals changed from defeating an alien race to save the galaxy and exploring new worlds to things that were more realistic, like keeping up with my school work so I wouldn’t fall behind in class. Around the end of my eighth grade year, I decided I wanted to go to a new career high school that was opening the next year. The career high school offered many different pathways the students could choose from, ranging from automotive technologies to architecture to even health sciences. That was the first time I had ever given any real thought to what I wanted to do when I grew up.
