This is the sequence when Michelle Carey, the reporter who stalks Tru is accidentally shot by a robber at a Diner, and in order to saves Michelle’s life; Tru has to relieve the day. The scenes consist of two locations: the diner and Tru’s bedroom while the sequence last approximately 170 seconds.
Shot 1: The scene starts with medium shot of Michelle’s body entering the diner through a door located in the right side of the frame. Diegetic sound of people chatting in the diner can be heard clearly. As she walks towards the camera and calls Tru’s name, Indiegetic mysterious instrumental music is starts to play. The camera angle is straight and the background is lit with softer fill light. Direct cut. (5 seconds)
Shot 2: Medium shot of Tru sitting on the diner’s sofa with a newspaper on the table. Diegetic light comes from the hanging lamp above her head. The camera angle is straight. She then unfolds the newspaper and lifts up her eyes to see who’s calling her name. The Indiegetic mysterious instrumental music continues to play. Direct cut. (3 seconds)
Shot 3: Straight angle and medium shot of Michelle putting her black bag on the left side of her chair, and then she sits beside it. She introduced herself and continues to talk to Tru. Three point lighting is used in this shot. The backlighting comes from lamps behind her. Then the camera slightly tracks backwards and shows a portion of Tru’s head in the foreground. Direct cut. Shot 4: This is a shot of Tru at a medium-close-up range responding with an intimidated face as she learns that Michelle is a reporter. She speaks in angry tone, and then cut by Michelle’s off screen voice. And for a while Tru glances downward to avoid eye contact with Michelle. The background behind Tru’s face is out of focus. Shot 5: Medium shot of Michelle speaking as she takes a small voice recorder device from her bag. Straight camera angle. Then Michelle points the voice recorder towards Tru as she continues with the questioning. Michelle’s eyes widen and her head moves slightly towards the camera, giving a sense that she is suspicious of Tru. Indiegetic mysterious instrumental music is intensified in order to builds the tension. At the end of this shot, the camera tracks slightly backward. A slightly out of focus portion of Tru’s head is visible on the right foreground of the frame. Direct cut. (10 seconds)
Shot 6: The beginning of this shot is Medium close up shot of Tru in straight angle. The background is out of focus. Tru’s face shows that she is very upset, as she speaks in angry tone, disturbed with off-screen voice of the waitress calling Tru to take her food take-out. Tru responds by turning her head to the right side of the frame. While at that exact same time, Indiegetic mysterious instrumental music is stopped. Tru turns her head back to face the camera. She then raises both of her eyebrows that seem as if she is telling Michelle that their conversation is over and she is got to go. Direct cut. (5 seconds)
Shot 7: This shot starts with medium shot of Tru’s back standing and walking away from her chair. Then close up of Tru’s head in slightly out of focus moving away from the camera’s view to the left and disappeared. Followed by Michelle who also stands and walking away from her seat to follow Tru as she is keeps speaking. The camera starts to pans following Michelle to the left, as she walks away towards the left side of the frame. The background is out of focus and leaving Michelle in sharp focus. Shot 8: Medium shot of Michelle’s back in the middle of the frame, following Tru to the bar as Michelle is still talking. The camera is tracking forward, and then a shallow focus figure of man in brown shirt is passing the camera. Tru grabs a brown food paper bag from the bar counter, turns her body, facing the camera, then tracks backwards as a medium shot of both Tru and Michelle walking towards the camera. Both of them are having a conversation. In here, backlighting comes from wall-lamps behind them. The diegetic sound of footsteps of Michelle’s heels can be heard quite clearly. Shot 9: Straight Medium shot of the man in brown jacket grabs away the blonde woman who is sitting on a bar stool at the right side of the frame. He thrusts a gun into her chest, and she screams. Shot 10: Medium shot of Tru and Michelle stop walking and turn around to the camera when the robber’s voice gets their attentions. Off-screen voice of the robber can be heard. The camera in this shot is straight angle. Both of them are modeled by a strong key light from the left side, a fill light from a position near the camera, and the background is lit with soft fill light. Direct cut. (2 seconds)
Shot 11: Straight on angle as the camera pans medium close up of scared customers in medium speed. Direct cut. (3 seconds)
Shot 12: Medium shot of the robber who is still holding the woman. When the robber turns his body to the bar, the camera then pans to the right in fast speed (to builds up suspense), moving away to a waitress taking a small black bag from the bar table, opens the cash register and begins to empty the money into the black bag very quickly. After that, the camera pans back to the left really fast and show medium close up of the robber keeps turning his head to every direction that indicates he also seems to be nervous. The camera is then tracks backward to show a medium shot of the robber and blonde woman who is still held as a hostage. The camera angle is straight. Direct cut. (9 seconds)

Shot 22: This shot opens with medium close up of the robber holding the hostage as a shield. Then the bullet comes into the frame, hit the hostage’s left shoulder, and wound her badly, as can be seen from her face that shows a lot of pain. Shot 23: In this shot, the background is out of focus while the camera angle is straight. Start with medium shot of bullet from the robber’s gun hits Michelle in the chest. Shot 25: Medium shot and high angle of Michelle lying on the floor, gasping for breath. Then the camera zooms in to Michelle wound in close up. Then Tru’s hand appears from the ride side of the frame and covers Michelle’s wound with a napkin. Shot 26: Medium close up shot and slightly high angle of Tru screaming for help. The background is out of focus while racy instrumental music intensifies in order to heighten the tension and the off-screen sound of crowds running away can be heard. Direct cut. (3 seconds)
Shot 27: A high angle and medium close up of Michelle’s face. She stops breathing, closes her eye sand her head falls back. Then the camera pans down to close up of Michelle’s stomach as Tru gets her hand off her stomach. The camera then tracks upwards again to medium shot of Michelle’s head pointing the right direction. This tells us that Michelle is already dead. At the end of this shot, indiegetic racy instrumental music ends abruptly. Direct cut. (8 seconds)
Shot 28: Medium and straight close up of Tru’s face in confusion as if she is wondering what to do next. She speaks in low tone and indigietic tense instrumental music starts. Direct cut. (4 seconds)
Shot 29: Medium close up of Michelle’s over shoulder dead body from the side in deep focus, partly blocked by Trus’s feet on the foreground and is in shallow focus. Then Michelle, with closed eyes moves her hand and grabs Tru’s feet. At that exact time, indigietic tense instrumental music is switched to very loud dramatic music.
